Epimetheus sat down sullenly in a corner with his back toward Pandora, while Pandora flung herself upon the floor

and rested her head on the fatal box. She was sobbing as if her heart would break. Suddenly there was a gentle tap on the inside of the lid.
自己的頭靠在這個(gè)毀滅性的盒子上，她抽泣著，好似她的心臟要破裂了，突然蓋子里面發(fā)出了輕輕的敲擊聲。
What can that be? cried Pandora, lifting her head. But either Epimetheus had not heard the tap, or was too much upset to notice it.
潘多拉叫嚷到，這是什么？她抬起頭，或許厄毗米修斯沒有聽到，或許他因?yàn)椴话捕鴽]有注意到。
At any rate, he made no answer. You are very unkind, said Pandora, sobbing again, not to speak to me!
無論如何，他沒有回答，潘多拉再次哭泣著說，你一點(diǎn)都不好，不和我說話。
Again the tap! It sounded like the tiny knuckles of a fairy's hand, knocking playfully on the inside of the box.
再一次敲打聲，聽起來很像是仙女的手指關(guān)節(jié)發(fā)出的聲音，在盒子里面歡快地敲打著。
Who are you? asked Pandora. Who are you, inside of this naughty box? A sweet little voice spoke from within:
潘多拉詢問道，你是誰？淘氣盒子里面到底是誰？里面發(fā)出了甜美的低聲，
Only lift the lid, and you shall see. No, no, answered Pandora, again beginning to sob,
只要打開蓋子，你便知道，潘多拉又哭了起來，不不，
I have had enough of lifting the lid! You are inside of the box, naughty creature, and there you shall stay!
我已經(jīng)受夠了掀開蓋子，你個(gè)淘氣的怪物，你在盒子里，你應(yīng)該待在里面。
Ah, said the sweet little voice again, you had much better let me out. I am not like those naughty creatures that have stings in their tails.
甜美的聲音再次響起，啊，你最好讓我出去，我不像那些尾巴上長螫刺的淘氣怪物。
Come, come, my pretty Pandora! I am sure you will let me out!
來吧，來吧，美麗的潘多拉，我肯定你會(huì)讓我出去的。
And, indeed, there was a kind of cheerful witchery in the tone that made it almost impossible to refuse anything which this little voice asked.

Pandora's heart had grown lighter at every word that came from within the box.
潘多拉的心臟隨著盒子里面的每一個(gè)字而變得輕盈。
Epimetheus, too, though still in the corner, had turned half round and seemed to be in rather better spirits than before.
盡管厄毗米修斯還在角落里，但他轉(zhuǎn)過來一半，似乎比之前的心情好了許多。
My dear Epimetheus, cried Pandora, have you heard this little voice? Yes, to be sure I have, he answered.
潘多拉叫嚷道，我親愛的厄毗米修斯，你聽到這個(gè)聲音了嗎？他回答道，當(dāng)然聽到了。
And what of it? Shall I lift the lid again? asked Pandora. Just as you please, said Epimetheus.
潘多拉問道，又怎樣？我應(yīng)該掀開蓋子嗎？厄毗米修斯說隨你便。
You have done so much mischief already that perhaps you may as well do a little more.
你已經(jīng)干了那么多淘氣的事，再多做一點(diǎn)無妨。
One other Trouble can make no very great difference.
再出來一個(gè)麻煩也不會(huì)產(chǎn)生大的變化。
