本劇主要講述住在紐約長(zhǎng)島的西佛一家的日常生活故事，是中國(guó)大陸較早引進(jìn)的國(guó)外情景喜劇，在中國(guó)從1990年一直播出至1994年。1990年代初期一經(jīng)播出就引發(fā)了收視高潮，片中邁克開朗調(diào)皮的形象為廣大觀眾所喜愛。而劇中西佛醫(yī)生對(duì)子女采取啟發(fā)式教育的方式，也讓觀眾得到啟示。
Mike:But Idefendedyou. I said my dad's a cool guy. And then what do you do? Youslobberedall over me on the News Line New York.
邁克：我為你辯護(hù)，我說我爸爸是個(gè)冷靜的人，可是你在紐約新聞里對(duì)我顯的那么親密。
Jason:Alright, ok. Mike, I am sorry. Maybe we shouldn't have gone to the concert together.
詹森：好了，聽著邁克，我很遺憾，我真不該和你一起去聽音樂會(huì)。
Mike:It's not what I am saying.
邁克：爸爸，我就是這個(gè)意思。
Jason:Maybe you should've taken a girl.
詹森：對(duì)，你該帶你的女朋友去。
Mike:Dad, you’re not listening to me. Look, I’mtaking a big riskby telling you this, but I actually like doing stuff with you. I do, I mean. I was sitting there and watching Springsteen with my Dad, and a lot of other people's parents don't even know what Springsteen is. And all through the concert I was thinking. Hey, you know this is really great, yeah.
邁克：爸爸，你并沒有理解我，聽著，我說這話是冒很大風(fēng)險(xiǎn)的，我是確實(shí)喜歡和你一起聽的，我是說和我一起去看“斯比斯卡”的是我的爸爸，可許多別人的父親還不知道“斯比斯卡”是誰呢，整個(gè)音樂會(huì)我一直在想，嘿，這真是太有意思了，就這樣。
Jason:Well, you know I was thinking pretty much the same thing.

Mike:Maybe that the way we can both think that...
