【詞義辨析】
responsible, liable,
responsible: 指能熟練而出色地履行職責或完成任務，或指在出差錯而對其原因有爭執時承擔過失。
liable: 著重指在不履行債務等時應負法律責任或受罰。
【詞語用法】
1.be responsible for表示“對……負責任”，它的主語不一定是人，這種用法在美式英語中較常見。
The cold weather is responsible for his absence.
冷空氣對他的缺席有一定的責任。
2.the person responsible表示“負責人”。
I want to see the person responsible.
我想見負責人。
3.responsible后面可跟that從句。
The writer of a letter is responsible that it will be understood by its recipient.
寫信的人有責任讓收信人讀懂信的意思。
4.一般來說，be responsible to后跟人，指“對某人負責”，而be responsible for后跟物，指“對某事負責”。

【詞語用法】
1.in case of指“假如……發生，以防……”。
Take an umbrella with you in case of rain.
帶把傘吧，以防下雨。
2.in the case of指“關于……”，偶爾與in case of同義。
In the case of his father, we must make an exception.
關于他的父親，我需要做個例外。
3.in the case of，in ...case和in many cases等表達方式都要避免使用過多，有時還可省略。
In the case of Russian grammar, it has six cases.
可以直接說Russian grammar has six cases，省略in the case of。
4.in case后加that從句指“假如……”或“希望”，從句中不用將來時態。
In case he comes, let me know.
You had better be ready in case they arrive before you expect them.
5.in case可獨立使用，表示“萬一”。
They may not arrive before you expect them, but you had better be ready in case.
他們可能不會在你預期的時間前到，但為避免萬一，你最好做好準備。
