【詞義辨析】row, queue, line, rank, file

這些名詞均含“列、隊、排”之意。

1.line

釋義：a formation of people or things one behind another
n. 指人或物排成的行列

如：Hang the clothes on the line.
把衣服晾在繩子上。

2.row:

釋義：an arrangement of objects or people side by side in a line
指單獨的一列，也可指平行的數行中的一行，而不論是橫或縱。

如：Students stand hand in hand in a row.
學生們手牽手站成一排。

3.queue

釋義:a line of people or vehicles waiting for something
指人們為做某事而有順序排成的隊，在等的過程中不斷向前移動。

如：There's a long queue of people waiting for new houses.
很多人等待著買新房屋。

4.rank

釋義：a row or line of people (especially soldiers or police) standing abreast of one another
為軍事用語，指肩并肩排列整齊的士兵橫排。

如：He is above me in rank.
他的級別比我高。

5.file

釋義：a line of persons or things ranged one behind the other
為軍事用語，指縱隊。
