譯者：人皆謂赫本抱著小吉他坐在窗臺上唱歌才是經典，其實本片的結尾處才是全劇的重點情節。不過現實中的霍莉恐怕沒有那么容易說服。

（霍莉夢想嫁給巴西富翁何西的愿望破滅了，她心有不甘。她賭氣要好朋友保羅幫她找來最富有的50人名單，準備繼續行動……一直關心她的保羅深感痛心。）

Paul: Holly, I am not going to let you dothis.

Holly: you are not going to let me?

Paul: Holly, I am in love with you.

Holly: so what?

Paul: so what? So plenty. I love you, youbelong to me.

Holly: no, people don’t belong to people.

保羅：霍莉，我不會讓你這么干的。

霍莉：你算老幾？

保羅：霍莉，我愛上你了。

霍莉：那又怎樣？

保羅：那又怎樣？這就夠了，我愛你，你屬于我。

霍莉：不，這世上誰都不屬于誰。

Paul: of course they do.

Holly: I am not gonna let anyone put me ina cage.

Paul: I don’t wanna put you in a cage, Iwanna love you.

Holly: It’s the same thing.

Paul: no, it’s not. Holly….

保羅：人們當然相互擁有。

霍莉：我不會讓人關在籠子里。

保羅：我不想把你關起來，我只想愛你。

霍莉：有什么區別？

保羅：有區別，霍莉……

Holly: I'm not holly, I'm not Lula Maeneither. I don't know who I am. I am like cat here. We are a couple of no-nameslobs. We belong to nobody and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong toeach other. Stop the cab! What do you think? This ought to be the right kind ofplace for a tough guy like you. Garbage cans, rats galore, scram! I said takeoff, beat it! Let's go.

霍莉：我不是霍莉，也不是露娜美。我不知道我是誰。我就像這只流浪貓。我們不過是一對可憐蟲。我們不屬于任何人，也沒有人屬于我們。我們甚至不屬于對方。司機停車！（對貓說）你以為？這里才是你這樣的家伙應該呆的地方。找垃圾吃吧，和老鼠作伴，滾！我說了下車，走開！（對司機說）開車！

Paul: driver, pull over here. You know what’swrong with you, miss whoever-you-are? You’re chicken, you’ve got no guts. You’reafraid to stick out your chin and say,”ok, life’s a fact” . people do fall inlove, people do belong to each other. Because that’s the only chance anybody’sgot for real happiness. You call yourself a free spirit, a wild thing. And you’reterrified somebody’s going to stick you in a cage. Well, baby, you’re alreadyin that cage. You built it yourself. And it’s not bounded in the west by Tulip,Texas or in the east bysomaliland, It’s wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just endup running into yourself. Here, I’ve been carrying this thing around formonths. I don’t want it anymore.

保羅：（忍無可忍）司機，靠邊停。（他走下車回頭對霍莉說）你知道你的問題在哪兒嗎？“不知自己是誰”小姐。你是懦夫，你沒有膽量。你害怕擺脫你的束縛，說什么“好吧，生活就是這樣”。人們之間有愛，人們彼此擁有。因為這是唯一真正獲得快樂的機會。是的，親愛的，你已經呆在籠子里。你把自己關起來。無論你是在西部的德克薩斯，還是在東部的索馬里島，無論你去哪兒。因為不管你逃到哪里，最后你都無法回避你自己。（掏出一個戒指）給我，我到處帶著它好幾個月了。我再也不想要了。（關上車門，走人）

霍莉經過幾秒鐘的思想斗爭，也下車沖進了雨里……
