Fourteen Always Arguing？
第十四課 總是爭吵？
"Kai and Lars! I'll be right around the corner at the art gallery in a couple of minutes!
"卡伊和拉爾斯，過幾分鐘我就要到美術(shù)館了！
Don't you argue about anything, do you hear?"
你們不要為任何事爭吵把！聽到了嗎？"
"Okay, Mom. We'll be fine. Take your time!" Kai and Lars replied.
"好啦，媽媽，我們會好好的，你別著急！"卡伊和拉爾斯答道。
When she arrived at the gallery, Mom quickly arranged for someone to take her place that day.
來到美術(shù)館，媽媽很快就安排了一個人給她頂那天的班。
Her babysitter had cancelled and she needed to go home.
給她照看小孩的人取消了原來的計劃，她得回家去。
Her sons were as alike as two peas in a pod.
她的兩個孩子是一模一樣。
Fights between them could arise from any issue.
任何問題都會引起他們之間的爭吵。
Once Kai had punched Lars when the latter argued the toss.
有一次，拉爾斯對已經(jīng)決定的事表示了異議, 卡伊就給了他一拳。
She had to always keep her eyes on them.
她總是得盯緊他們。
As a matter of fact, she had to watch them around the clock!
事實上，她得不停不夜地看著他們。
She believed that they had become this way as a result of their father passing away.
她認為他們之所以變成這樣是因為他們失去了父親。
It had been hard on them all.
父親的死對他們打擊特別大。
And while she had done her best as a whole, and everyone approved of her effort, the boys were still struggling.
雖然總的來說她盡了全力，大家也都對她的努力表示贊許，但兩個孩子還是覺得日子很難。
"I'm back, boys!" She said as she came in the door.
"我回來啦，兒子們！"她從門口進來時說。
"Did you argue with each other?"
"你們倆爭吵了嗎？"
When silence greeted her and the boys were nowhere to be found, she knew as a rule that something was wrong.
等她發(fā)現(xiàn)家里一點動靜也沒有，連兒子們的影子都找不到時，她知道按慣例來說是出事了。
"Surprise! " The boys yelled as they jumped out of the closet.
"給您一個驚喜！"兒子們從壁櫥里蹦了出來喊道。
"Happy birthday, Mom!"
"媽媽，生日快樂！"
Mom nearly fell over.
媽媽差點跌倒了。
The boys had used silence as a means of tricking her into being unprepared for a surprising birthday party.
兒子們用沉默的方法騙了她個措手不及，安排了一個意外的生日聚會。
All of her friends came out of the rooms and they had a wonderful day.
所有朋友都從屋里出來了，那天他們過得真愉快。
The boys didn't fight once.
這回兩個兒子沒有吵過一次架！
