China has announced it has raised its tariff on all imports originating from the United States to 84 percent, effective as of 12:01 am Beijing time on Thursday, according to notices issued by Chinese authorities.

Apple transported five planes full of iPhones and other products from India to the US in just three days during the final week of March, a senior Indian officials confirmed to The Times of India. The urgent shipments were made to avoid a new 10 percent reciprocal tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump's administration that took effect on Saturday.

Industry experts estimate that if Apple fully passes tariff costs to consumers, iPhone prices could surge by 30 to 40 percent. Alternatively, absorbing the costs could slash the company's earnings per share by up to 15 percent.

While the White House asserted on Tuesday that the US "has the capacity to produce iPhones domestically," analysts remain skeptical. A senior analyst cautioned that relocating iPhone production to the US could potentially triple retail prices.
