Peking University made waves with a unique course designed to combat student weight gain. "Physical Ability Enhancement: Exercise and Nutrition" boasts impressive results, with one-third of participants losing over 5 percent of their body weight and over half reducing their waist circumference by more than 5 centimeters.
北京大學日前開設了一門“減肥課”,引起了不小的轟動。“讓三分之一學生減重5%以上、半數學生腰圍降低5公分以上”打響了這們課程的名號。
The program specifically targets overweight and obese students, defined by a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 25.
這門課專門針對超重和肥胖的學生,只有BMI超過25的同學可以報名。
Obesity is generally measured using the body mass index (a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of their height in meters). If the BMI exceeds 24, the person is considered overweight, and if it exceeds 28, this is considered obesity.
身體質量指數(BMI,Body Mass Index)通過體重(公斤)除以身高(米)的平方來計算的。BMI如果超過24,會被判定為超重,一旦超過28,則被視為肥胖。
One of the original intentions of teacher Zhang Xiaoyuan in launching the course was to help students who are anxious about physical fitness testing. On the other hand, "I also opened this course to help everyone establish the correct health concept. Our enrollment requirement is BMI over 25, as long as the weight or body fat is within the normal range, it is considered a normal body shape. These students do not need to lose weight." Zhang also hopes that through this special and very clear enrollment requirement, those students who do not need to lose weight will correctly view their body shape."
這門課的主講老師張曉園表示:“我開這門課也是想幫助(為體測)焦慮的同學行動起來,同時幫助大家樹立正確的健康觀念。我們的報名條件是BMI>25,只要體重或體脂在正常范圍內,就屬于正常身材,他們無需減肥。我也想幫助不需要減重的同學正確看待自己的身材。”
