6. Letting you keep your money
讓你保留自己的錢
As afinancial center that's historically been seen as the gateway to the Chinesemarket, Hong Kong is a great place to make money. What truly sets it apart is that residents actually get to keep most of the moneythey earn. With one of the lowest salaries tax rates in the world, capped at 16.5% and no salestax or VAT, Hong Kong is an attractive placeto work and play. The profits tax rate is the same for foreign and local companies at a low 16.5% andthere's no capital gains tax in Hong Kong. That doesn't make the local government a charity case though. Property and shares trade keep the government flush -- Financial Secretary John Tsangestimates an HK$12 billion surplus for this year.
