It was nightfall before Inspector MacDonald and White Mason came back from their expedition, and they arrived exultant, reporting a great advance in our investigation.	黃昏時(shí)分，警官麥克唐納和懷特·梅森調(diào)查回來了。他們興高采烈，說是調(diào)查有了很大進(jìn)展。
"Man, I'll admeet that I had my doubts if there was ever an outsider," said MacDonald, "but that's all past now. We've had the bicycle identified, and we have a description of our man; so that's a long step on our journey."	“伙計(jì)，我承認(rèn)我曾經(jīng)懷疑過是否果真有個(gè)外來人，"麥克唐納說道，“不過現(xiàn)在一切都過去了。我們已經(jīng)認(rèn)出了自行車，并且還查訪到車主的外貌特征，所以，這一趟可是收獲不小啊。”
"It sounds to me like the beginning of the end," said Holmes.	“你們這么說，好象這案子就要了結(jié)了，"福爾摩斯說道，
"I'm sure I congratulate you both with all my heart."	“我衷心地向你們二位道喜啊。”
