"Dancing Beijing": The 2008 Olympic Emblem Unveiled
2008年奧運會徽：中國印·舞動的北京
The official emblem for the Game of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 was presented to the world in Beijing August 3, 2003 at a ceremony held by the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG). The emblem, entitled "Dancing Beijing", resembles a red Chinese seal enclosing a lively dancing figure. It combines elements of traditional Chinese culture with the true Olympic spirit and values. Drawn in graceful traditional Chinese calligraphy, "Dancing Beijing" celebrates the spirit of sport, of every Olympian, and of China.
2003年8月3日北京奧組委于北京正式向全世界公布了2008年第29屆北京奧運會會徽。這個名為“舞動的北京”的會徽是個紅色的中國印章，上面是一個舞動著的運動人形，它將傳統的中國文化與奧林匹克的精神與價值相結合。用優雅的中國傳統書法書寫，“舞動的北京”展現了體育運動的精神，展現了中國和每一位奧林匹克運動人的風貌。
In a video messsage, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge, congratulated the efforts of BOCOG and their continued commitment to the promotion of Olympism and sports in the country. "Your new emblem immediately conveys the awesome beauty and power of China which are embodied in your heritage and your people," Rogge said. "In this emblem, I saw the promise and potential of a New Beijing and a Great Olympics. This is a milestone in the history of our Olympic quest."
國際奧委會主席雅克·羅格透過電視向北京奧組委作出的努力致以祝賀，并對他們在中國傳播奧林匹克主義、推動體育運動發展而不斷作出的承諾表示欽佩和感謝。“你們的新會徽直接明確地傳達著在中國人民和文化中世代傳承的無與倫比之美和弘大的精神力量。”羅格說，“從這個會徽上面，我看到了你們‘新北京，新奧運’的承諾和實現這一承諾的巨大潛力。它將是中國奧林匹克運動史上的一座里程碑。”
The new emblem was unveiled in the presence of 2008 VIPs and to an audience of 400 million TV viewers at a live gala show that the BOCOG staged in the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijing's greatest tourist attractions.
在2008名來賓和4億觀眾的關注下，北京奧組委在天壇的祈年殿通過電視直播向世界展示了會徽，天壇公園是北京歷史最悠久的旅游景點之一。
The seal presented symbolizes Beijing's "seal of promise" and commitment to hosting the best-ever great Olympics. It is one of an identical pair carved out of a whole piece of precious jade from Northwest China's Xinjiang. The other one is to be kept in a planned Olmpic Museum that Beijing will build after the 2008 Olympic Games.
會徽是一枚承諾之印，北京向世界表達了呈現最成功的一屆奧運會的決心，共有兩枚同樣的印章，它們是采用新疆的珍貴玉石雕刻而成。另一枚將存放在定于2008年奧運會后修建的奧運博物館中。
