實(shí)例：
We can only rely on this new product to tip the scales.我們只能通過這款新產(chǎn)品扭轉(zhuǎn)局勢(shì)。 tip the scales 中scales是“天平”之意，英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)言認(rèn)為在極小的干擾下，天平具有恢復(fù)自身平衡的能力；而tip 有“使傾斜”的意思，所以這個(gè)短語(yǔ)指打破原有平衡，進(jìn)入一種新秩序，即：“扭轉(zhuǎn)局勢(shì)”的意思。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說"We can only rely on this new product to tip the scales."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"We have to change the situation by releasing the new product."、"The only way of turning the tables lies in the new product."。
