Born in the cafes of Italy’s southern city of Naples (那不勒斯), the “caffe sospeso” (which means “suspended coffee”) is a tradition in which someone pays in advance (提前支付) for an extra （額額外的）cup or two, which can then be consumed （消費；享用） by a coffee-drinker-in-need later in the day. “待用咖啡” 的意大利語是caffe sospeso，這個傳統起源于意大利南部城市那不勒斯的咖啡館，在那里人們可以提前多買一兩杯咖啡，給其他可能比較貧困的咖啡愛好者享用。
A customer-in-need can then later ask if there is a “suspended coffee” available (adj.可得到的；可享用的) and have a hot drink without having to pay for it.
