北京消息，周五，一年一度的中國(guó)高考拉開帷幕，這是世界上最大的考試，得到了武警、親愛的家人以及各種社會(huì)力量的支持。

中國(guó)調(diào)動(dòng)（mobilize）了各相關(guān)政府部門，以保證考試秩序（guarantee exam order），確保所有考生（examinee）順利進(jìn)入考場(chǎng)，高考是目前國(guó)家唯一認(rèn)可的（sole state-sanctioned）進(jìn)入高等院校（institutions of higher）學(xué)習(xí)的方式。
高考首日，北京全市普降雨水（torrential rain），能見度低，并伴有雷電（thunder and lightning）和霧，北京派出了7000名交警（traffic officer）上路，維護(hù)交通秩序（maintain traffic order），確保考生準(zhǔn)時(shí)進(jìn)入考場(chǎng)。交警隨時(shí)準(zhǔn)備為考生及其父母提供緊急協(xié)助（immediate assistance）。兩名交警護(hù)送（escort）兩名即將遲到的考生前往考場(chǎng)（exam venue），而大部分考生則選擇提早出門避開交通高峰（avoid rush hours）。
安徽、湖南、江西、上海及廣州等地均普遍下雨，這對(duì)電力供應(yīng)（electricity supplies）造成潛在風(fēng)險(xiǎn)（pose potential risk）。安徽省合肥市準(zhǔn)備了應(yīng)急方案（emergency plan），成立了25組應(yīng)急搶修（emergency repair）隊(duì)伍，24小時(shí)待命（round the clock），設(shè)置三輛應(yīng)急電源車（emergency power car）。
