《憤怒的葡萄》The Grapes of Wrath
Nick B. A final illustrate that the best plans are at the mercy of chance events occurs in John Steinbeck's novel, The Grapes of Wrath. The Joad family, as a specific example, and the majority of farming population in Oklahoma as a representation, are driven from their land by drought and the Dust Bowl and forced to move to West in search of work and a new life. Upon reaching California, they find there are hordes of applicants for every job, and thus, little hope of finding a stable income from which to live, let alone find a house and a steady job. In Steinbeck's work, it is the reality of life, versus the Joad's preconceived fantasies of life as a migrant worker in California, that serves as the unexpected element in the Joad's seemingly flawless plan.
點評:寫得還算不錯,盡管句子的結構欠缺嚴謹,但是用詞很漂亮(像“hordes of applicants”),過渡自然,很好地支持了文章主題。
