Hi, Li Ming! Do you want to surprise your friends?

Brian, Jenny and I did an experiment in science class.
布賴恩，珍妮和我在科學課上做了一個實驗。
You can do it, too! First, you need to get ready.
你也可以做！首先，你需要做好準備。
Get a glass full of water and a piece of cardboard.
拿一只裝滿水的杯子和一張紙板。
Tell a friend to sit down.
讓一位朋友坐下。
Cover the glass with the cardboard, and turn the glass over.
將杯子用紙板蓋上，把杯子倒過來。
Hold it over your friend's head.
把它舉在你朋友的頭頂上面。
Tell your friend, "I am going to take my hand off the cardboard.
告訴你的朋友：“我將把我的手從紙板下面拿開。
Will the cardboard hold the water in the glass?"
紙板會承受住杯子里水的重量嗎？”
"No, I don't think so," your friend will say.
“不，我不認為是那樣，”你的朋友一定會說，
"Keep your hand on the cardboard, please!"
“請將你的手放在紙板上！”
Next, take your hand off.
接著，拿開你的手。
The cardboard will hold the water up!
紙板將承受水的重量而不使它掉下來！
Air is heavier than we think!
空氣比我們想象的要強大！
It pushes down on us from above.
它從上面給我們以壓力，
It also pushes up on us from below.
也從下面給我們以壓力。
In the experiment, air pushes up on the cardboard.
在這個實驗里，空氣給紙板向上的壓力。
But it can't push down on the water because the water is inside the glass.
但是它不能給水以向下的壓力因為水裝在杯子里。
The air holds the water! Science is interesting.
空氣支撐著水！科學很有趣。
