01.Turning point

拐點在英文中的說法和中文非常對應：

Turning point: 拐點，轉折點

拐點并不是隨意的某一點，而是指事情發展的過程中對結果有影響的，能夠改變局勢的重要節點，通常對事件中的某一方有好處：

Decisive: 決定性的

Beneficial: 有益的，有利的

Turning point: The point at which a decisive change in a situation occurs, often one with beneficial results.

此外，還有另一個類似的表達，它也是美國一本暢銷書的名字：

Tipping point: 引爆點

Tipping 在這里并不是給小費，而是失去平衡，翻倒的意思：

Tip over: 使翻倒

Candles may tip over and ignite flammables. 蠟燭可能會翻倒引燃易燃物。

Tipsy: 踉蹌的，微醉的

He was tipsy yesterday. 他昨天有點醉。

和拐點不同，引爆點表示一連串小變化的積累后，最終在 tipping point 發生了重大的改變，就像“壓死駱駝的最后一根稻草”：

Tipping point: The point at which a series of small changes or incidents becomes significant enough to cause a large, more important change.

談到疫情的拐點，turning point 更為合適：

It has yet to reach the turning point in coronavirus fight. 這場新型冠狀病毒的戰役還未達到拐點。

02.Reach/Come to/Arrive at

Turning point是拐點的名詞，如何表示“到達”拐點呢？

To reach a turning point / turning point reached

To come to a turning point

To arrive at a turning point

一個比較學術的表達：

Something marks a turning point: 標志著拐點（的到來）

某件事情的轉折點：

The turning point "of" something

03.Make a turn

除了表示拐點外，turn 這個詞在日常生活中也很實用，做動詞時：

Turn right/left: 向右/左轉

Turn 作為名詞使用：

Make a right/left turn: 向右/左轉

在國外坐出租車的時候，司機可能會問你

Where should I stop？在哪里停呢？

你可以用上這個表達：

Just pass the lights and make a left turn. 過了紅綠燈后左轉。

04.Wrong turn

開車可能會走錯方向，人生的道路、職場的選擇也可能出錯：

Take a wrong turn: 轉錯方向

當然如果是做出了正確的選擇，你也可以巧妙地說 take a right turn，但日常生活中做出錯誤選擇時更常用這個比喻，類似的還有：

Take a turn for the worse/better: 事情變壞/變好

Things just take a turn for the worse. 事情變得更糟糕了。

05.Crossroads in life

我們的人生也會遇到很多個拐點：

Turning point in life

做選擇時，我們就像在人生的十字路口：

Crossroads in life: 人生的十字路口

I reach a crossroads in life. 我處于人生的十字路口（進行抉擇的重要關頭）。

站在十字路口你可以選擇 keep going，也可以調個頭往回走：

U-turn: 調頭（字母U的形狀）

Why didn't you do a U-turn？你當時為什么沒有調頭往回走？

“We deliver for you.”
