Dialogue 1
JILL: ...Say! Have you got time for a quick cup of coffee?
NORMA: Ah... sorry, Jill, but I can't. I'd love to but I'm off to work.
JILL: Really? Off to work, eh? That's interesting. What are you doing?
NORMA: I'm a nurses aide, actually.
JILL: Oh? Do you like it?
NORMA: Not bad - a bit boring sometimes.
JILL: How long have you been at the hospital?
NORMA: Only this year. Since Jason's been at pre-school. I only do it part-time.
JILL: Oh - that's good.
NORMA: Mm... three days. I'd get too bored otherwise.
JILL: Yes, I suppose it's pretty hard work.
NORMA: I'll say. You're on your feet all day. Fetching and carrying... helping the nurses lift heavy patients... you never stop.
JILL: Sounds awful.
NORMA: Yeah, when you consider it, it's not the best job in the world. What about you, Jill? Still a housewife?
JILL: Oh, no! Now that the children have grown up a bit, I go to work.

TALKING ABOUT JOBS
a) What do you do?
當有人問What do you do?或What do you do for a living?
What do you do for a living?
-I'm a teacher
-I'm a fireman
-I'm a housewife
注意:
也可以用What are you doing?
b) What's your job/it like?
What's your job like?或How do you like your job?
How do you like your job/it?
It's/I find it interesting
It's/I find it boring
It's/I find it fascinating
It's/I find it tiring
或
It's interesting
It's exhausting
It's fascinating job
It's boring
It's hard
或
It's a/an interesting
It's a/an exhausting
It's a/an fascinating job
It's a/an boring
It's a/an hard
Peter's a doctor; his wife's a teacher.
Both have interesting jobs.
Grammar bores me.→ It's boring
Geography interests her.→ She finds it interesting,
“全時工作”和“部分時間工作”可以這樣來表示:
He's got a full-time job.
She's got a part-time job.
She works part- time.
