GIRL: Well, first press this button.
BOY: Oh ... I see.
GIRL: Press the other button.
BOY: I can't hear it.
GIRL: Turn the volume up.
BOY: Oh ... O.K... No*.. It isn't working!
GIRL: Oh! I haven't plugged it in.
BOY: Well, plug it in!
GIRL: All right. Now... Switch it on.
BOY: Here?

英語情景對話2

Bob是一個工廠的領班，他向工人Dave布置工作，叫他把庫房打掃一下。

BOB: Hey; Dave. Can you come here9
DAVE: Yes, Bob?
BOB: I want you to clean up this store room. First, move those boxes...
DAVE: Where to?
BOB: Um.. Put them outside, near the door. Then I'd like you to get a broom and sweep the floor．

第二部分：英語詞匯表達

如果有人問：
Can you show me how it（a cassette player）works? 你能告訴我這東西（錄音機）怎么用嗎？
你就可以說：
Plug it in 插上插頭
Switch it on 打開開關
Press this button 摁這個鈕
Press the other button 拇那個鈕
Turn the volume up 加大音量
It isn't working （錄音機）還是不響

(= Where will I move them to/take it to?)
這一講末尾令人吃驚的那一段里，有這樣兩個短語：
back…up 倒（車）
keep going 繼續
（此處意為“繼續往后倒”，漢語只需要說：“倒！倒！”）

NAMES：

Bob （男子名；是Robert的昵稱）
Dave （男子名；是David 的昵稱）

第三部分：課程

1．TELLING SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING叫某人做某事

在第9講和第18講里，我們學了用以下幾個說法來請求別人做某件事情：

Would you fill in this card,please? Would you mind signing.your name, please?
Could you close the door?
在今天這一講里，我們則要學習怎樣叫別人做某件事情。
在我們的講座里，John和Barbara經常對你說：
Listen again and try it.
Try them with us．
這樣的句子叫做祈使句。用祈使句叫人做事，非常簡便。
請你數一數在第Ⅰ部分的對話中有幾個祈使句。
2.TELLING SOMEONE NOT TO DO SOMETHING 叫人不要做某事
叫人不要做某事，需要用祈使句的否定形式，例如：
Don't plug it in yet．
Don't press that button．
Don't turn it up too high． ．
介紹一個常用的說法，例如： ．
Don't forget to...
Don't forget to plug it in．
Don't forget to switch it on.
Don't forget to turn the volume up.
3．POLITE FORMULAS客氣的說法
用祈使句叫人做什么事，或不做什么事，有時聽起來很不客氣。這種句子往往用來提出一連串的要求，比如在體育活動中，或者在教別人做什么事的時候，要求作什么動作。在其他場合，一般要加一點客氣的話，例如 Could you...?或Please...。
(Could you) Turn it up, please.
叫別人做什么事情，也可以用以下兩個說法：
I want you to..
I'd like you to...
( I'd like you to...比I want you to...更客氣一些，也更為常用。)
I want you t6 look at this.
I'd like you to clean this room.
我們常常以請求的形式向別人提出要求。
例如：
Can you come here?

PRONUNCIATION CORNER

I'd是I would的簡略式。請練習I'd like中的[aid]音。同時也請練習其他動詞的簡略式，例如：
I have seen it - I've seen it.
She has done it - She's done it.
He will come. He'll come.

第四部分：練習

這一講學的是怎樣叫別人做什么事，現在請看下面幾個練習：

Exercise l
In a race, the names of the place getters（獲勝者）were John, Jim and Joe.The numbers were 3,11 and 15. Read the following and write down the names and numbers of the person who came first, second and third.
No.3 did not come third. John finished behind Joe. Jim was not No.11．No. 15 came first. Joe finished ahead of Jim.
Answer:
