Lesson 8 Friday and the Thirteenth
星期五與十三號
Friday the Thirteenth has long been considered extremely unlucky because it has some bad associations
長久以來13號的星期五被看作不祥之日，因為在圣經(jīng)故事，
which originated from some mythological tales of the Bible and other folk customs.
其他民間習俗中這一天有一些不好的聯(lián)想。
According to the Bible, the Lord God created the first man, Adam.
圣經(jīng)宣稱，上帝創(chuàng)造了第一個男人亞當。
Then he took a rib from Adam's body and out of it created the first woman. Eve.

It was said that Adam was created on a Friday and it was on Friday that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, and they died on a Friday, too.
據(jù)說上帝也是在星期五造的亞當，而亞當我夏娃又是在星期五偷吃了禁果，也是在星期五死去的。
Friday was also the common day in English for executing criminals. For this reason it was sometimes known as the Hanging Day.
在英格蘭，星期五還曾是處決罪犯的日子，正因為如此它被稱作“絞刑日”。
From an old Norse myth people got the idea that 13 people sitting at a table to have a dinner was unlucky.
古老的挪威神話使人們相信13個人同桌進餐是不吉利的。
And this superstition was confirmed by the Last Supper of Christ and his disciples.
這個迷信觀念又被基督和他的門徒最后的晚餐進一步證實
The Bible tells us that Christ sat down with his 12 disciples. which made up the number 13,
圣經(jīng)告訴我們當基督的12個門徒之一猶大為了30塊銀幣出賣了他的主時，
at the Last Supper when Judas, one of the 12 disciples, sold his master for thirty pieces of silver.
基督正與他的12個門徒（一共是13人）坐在一起，共進最后的晚餐。
Christ was killed by being nailed on the cross the following day. which was also a Friday.
第二天，也是個星期五，基督被釘死在十字架上。
A Ridiculous Idea The idea about Friday the Thirteenth is totally ridiculous.
荒唐的說法 13號星期五要倒霉的說法真是荒唐，
I don't believe it at all. Maybe you can't be so sure.
我才不信呢。你恐怕不能這么肯定吧。
Why not? The whole idea is superstitious.
為什么不？這整個想法都是迷信的。
But some people use this occasion to create trouble.
但是有人會利用這個機會制造麻煩。
Have you heard of the Black Friday. Virus on the computer?
你聽說過電腦上的“黑色星期五”病毒嗎？
It is designed to break out on every Friday the Thirteenth.
這個病毒被設計成在每個13號星期五發(fā)作。
I know that. But that has nothing to do with being unlucky.
這我知道。可這與倒不倒霉沒關(guān)系。
Those who created the virus are deliberately making fun of people.
這是那些制造病毒的人成心搞惡作劇。
