我們中國(guó)人說(shuō)的“掃帚星”其實(shí)是個(gè)比喻,通常指不吉利的人或物。其實(shí)“掃帚星”指的是“彗星”。在英語(yǔ)中沒(méi)有對(duì)應(yīng)的比喻義的翻譯,不能譯為“comet”,應(yīng)該是jinx。
例如:I've heard of her. She's said to be a jinx, who would bring bad luck to whoever she marries.
我聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)她,有人說(shuō)她是個(gè)掃帚星,誰(shuí)跟她結(jié)婚都會(huì)倒霉。
