5月12日，四川汶川發(fā)生了里氏7.8級(jí)大地震，至今死亡人數(shù)已經(jīng)上升到14866人，被毀壞的房屋無數(shù)。面對(duì)自然災(zāi)害，中國人團(tuán)結(jié)起來、互相幫扶，都希望能盡快將受災(zāi)的人們解救出來。我們也意識(shí)到，我們需要對(duì)地震多一些了解。

那么，“發(fā)生了地震”，該如何說呢？地震多屬于突發(fā)事件，來勢(shì)猛烈，去的也快，因此，英語中描述地震的動(dòng)詞也多具有這樣的特點(diǎn)。比如用hit 和roll across兩個(gè)詞。Roll 表示“波動(dòng)起伏地前進(jìn)”，比如：
