We are interdependent as well as independent. Challenges such as fighting environmental damage, ensuring global human rights are properly observed, removing barriers to trade and investments, and reducing poverty, have become truly global issues. They loom larger on the agendas of multilateral organizations like the U., the WTO and ASEM. In the 21st century, bilateral relations between countries will depend on progress on issues like these.
我們既相互獨(dú)立，又相互依賴。對(duì)付環(huán)境破壞，確保全球人權(quán)得到應(yīng)有的尊重，撤除貿(mào)易和投資的障礙，減少貧困，這些挑戰(zhàn)都已經(jīng)成為名副其實(shí)的全球問題。在聯(lián)合國(guó)、世界貿(mào)易組織和亞歐會(huì)議這樣的多邊組織的日程上，這些問題顯得越來越嚴(yán)重。在21世紀(jì)，國(guó)家之間的雙邊關(guān)系將取決于在這些問題上取得的進(jìn)展。
