對話：黃教授談中國文化

記者：黃教授，最近我讀了一篇有關中國文化的新聞報道，上面說中國傳統文化的影響由于受到西方文化的沖擊正在逐步淡化。你是怎樣看待這個問題的呢？

Professor Huang: Well, I’ve read it, too. Ishould say the article is groundless.

記者：但是，現在越來越多的中國人更喜歡吃諸如麥當勞和肯德基一類的西餐，而不是中餐；越來越多的人更喜歡過圣誕節，而不是中國的春節。

Professor Huang: You might be right aboutthat. But this doesn’t mean the Chinese traditional culture is becoming anyless important.

記者：你能否具體的解釋一下呢？

Professor Huang: Yes. First let’s look atthe fact you mentioned just now. It’s true that today some Chinese, especiallythe youth, are influenced by the western culture so much that they overlooksome inner parts of their own culture. Actually, I can give you another exampleabout such a different attitude towards Chinese and western festivals.

記者：什么例子？

Professor Huang: Nowadays, many youngChinese are enthusiastic about the Valentine’s Day. On February 14th, young menand women would send each other roses and chocolates, and go to westernrestaurants for a romantic dinner.

記者：跟我們西方人差不多？

Professor Huang: Exactly. But when asked,few of them know about the traditional Chinese festival for people in love witheach other, or Qi Qiao festival, which is on July 7th in the Chinese lunarcalendar. Although people do not send flowers and chocolates to each other, thefestival carries on the same meaning of celebration for love and purity.

記者：那么中國傳統文化出現這種變化背后的原因是什么呢？

Professor Huang: I should say globalizationis one of the most important reasons. With the closer link between China andother countries in the world, foreign cultures, especially the western one,have had great impact on the Chinese traditional culture.

記者：我懂了。現在讓我們回到中國傳統文化的作用上來。你為什么會認為中國傳統文化的影響沒有減弱呢？

Professor Huang: Because many things thatare popular today in China, or even in the world, are parts of the Chinesetraditional culture, such as Kung-fu, Chinese food, Peking Opera, you name it.By the way, speaking of Peking Opera, I can share with you somethinginteresting. While many Chinese young men are kind of losing interests inPeking Opera, more and more foreigners are keen on this kind of traditionalopera.

記者：真的？

Professor Huang: Yeah. Several days ago,our university sponsored an international Peking Opera contest, in which 80Peking Opera fans and learners from 33 countries put on a fantastic performance.

記者：真讓人大開眼界。

Professor Huang: Absolutely. I think theChinese traditional culture is, to some extent, regaining its importance. Ofcourse, we should do more to preserve and promote the Chinese traditionalculture.

記者：你有什么好建議嗎？

Professor Huang: Yes. We can hold moreevents that feature Chinese traditional culture and invite foreign friends totake part in these events. In this way, they’ll learn more about thetraditional culture in China. We can also add some exotic elements into ourcultural tradition so as to rekindle the interests of the Chinese people,especially young ones, in their own culture.

Professor Huang: I believe the Chinesetraditional culture will be rejuvenated in the near future. 記者：似乎您對中國傳統文化有很大的信心。

Professor Huang: Definitely.

Professor Huang: Thank you.
