Speech at the closing ceremony of the Global Entrepreneurs'sSummit Forum,September 2005 Honorable General Manager Fu, Distinguished Guests,
Good afternoon! I know you must be very, very exhausted by now, but I’m quite thrilled to be standing here giving the closing remarks. I am honored to share my thoughts and feelings with you. There are many things I would like to say, but most importantly, I would just like to say thank you, and thank you again! Our two-day summit has welcomed 80 or more speakers who have given speeches, with about 150 in attendance at the evening banquets on the Huangpu River. We are very grateful for each one. Because your time is most precious, we recognize that your willingness to participate in an event hosted by a small magazine not only honors our friendship, but also expresses your expectation for both the present and the future. Although the average age of our management team is less than 28, we are a young team with dreams and ideals. We are prepared to take on communication media as a life-long career. It saddens me each time I go to the Fortune Global Forum because it’s apparent that when American magazine companies such as Fortune hold a forum in China, it’s attended by some of the highest-ranking officials, while no Chinese magazine has ever had such an honor. Fortunately, we still have the opportunity to work toward this goal. I wish to give my special thanks to the Shanghai municipal government. At the opening ceremony yesterday, executive vice-chairman Feng Guoqin extended his best wishes. He expressed that our magazine, Global Entrepreneurs, has great ambitions and that it was clear we want to be the best business magazine in China. My special gratitude goes to the government of the Pudong New District of Shanghai as well, for their great support. And of course, our thanks must also go to our friends from the press. Over the last two days about 100 media organizations have given coverage to our event. Sina.com even gave us a live web-cast. In addition, I am also very grateful to our sponsors. It was through their support that our summit was financially guaranteed. Before closing, please allow me to say thank-you to ourselves as well, because we have all worked really hard over the past ten months in preparation for this summit. At this time, I’d like to invite my team to come up and join me. All the planning for this summit was done by our editing department, which was responsible for choosing all of the topics. Please give a warm round of applause to our editors and reporters. Thank you! Finally, it was our promotional department that took responsibility for all the organizing and handling of procedural details for the summit. You see, these beautiful ladies and handsome men are the young employees of Global Entrepreneurs. Please give another warm round of applause for each of them. Thank you! In conclusion, I would like to ask my colleagues to join me in giving a deep bow to each of you, our distinguished guests! We so appreciate your participation! We would like to schedule you in advance for next year, hoping to meet you again in September, and trust we will meet each other at the Global Entrepreneurs’ Summit Forum every year hereafter. Thanks again to you all. This concludes the 2005 Global Entrepreneurs’ Summit Forum! Thank you very much!
