首先歡迎大家出席今晚的“中國之夜”文化活動，歡迎重慶文藝團不遠萬里來到瓦努阿圖訪問演出。

Firstly, I would like to welcome everyone to attend this cultural function, –“Night of China”, and extend our great appreciation to the Chongqing Art Troupe. They came across the Pacific Ocean, and traveled a long way from China to Vanuatu.

在座的很多來賓都參加了今年2月中國使館舉辦的“中國文化日”活動，體驗了中國文化一小部分。今天，我們有幸邀請到來自重慶歌劇院的專業(yè)演出團隊來瓦演出。重慶藝術團是瓦努阿圖的老朋友了，早在2009年，他們便給我們帶來過精彩的雜技表演。今天他們再次來訪，帶來具有濃郁中國西部巴蜀文化風情的演出，相信會再次讓我們大飽眼福和耳福。

Many of our guests today already experienced some part of Chinese Culture in February at our “China Culture Day”, which was hosted by the Chinese Embassy. Now, we are very fortunate to have the art troupe from Chongqing, to present us their professional shows. Chongqing Art Troupe is actually Vanuatu’s old friend. Back in 2009, they already impressed Vanuatu audiences with splendid acrobatic shows. Today, they are back with fresh new art performances enriched with local customs and typical Sichuan Culture from the western part of China. I am confident that they won’t let us down.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

中瓦建交30余年來，雙方在包括文化在內的各領域的交流合作不斷加強，兩國人民友誼不斷加深。近年來，多個來自中國各地的文藝團組來瓦演出，內容涉及武術、雜技、歌舞等多種多樣中國傳統(tǒng)文化和藝術；2010年上海世博會上，瓦努阿圖藝術家在太平洋展館向中國和世界人民展示了獨具瓦特色的美拉尼西亞風情。8月13日，中國文化部長蔡武先生訪問瓦努阿圖，他會見了納塔佩副總理、與克羅比部長舉行了交談，雙方同意未來商談簽署文化合作諒解備忘錄，促進雙方在人文領域開展更廣泛深入的交流合作。重慶藝術團的來訪很好呼應了兩國政府的共識，今后還會有更多更好的文化團組來瓦演出，將中瓦人文交流推向深入。

China and Vanuatu have enjoyed sound diplomatic relations for more than 30 years. Our pragmatic cooperation in various fields, including culture and people to people exchanges, has never been as strong as now, and the friendship between our two peoples has never been more solid than it was before. In recent years, many Art Troupes from different provinces of China visited Vanuatu and showcased diverse Chinese traditional culture and art, such as martial art, acrobatics, and traditional songs and dances. At the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, Vanuatu artists impressed Chinese people and the world with its exotic Melanesian show. Recently, the Minister of Culture of China, Mr. Cai Wu visited Vanuatu, and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Edward Natapei and Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Patrick Crowby. China has decided to donate cultural equipments with a value of 500,000 RMB (which is around 9 million vatu) to Vanuatu for its culture industry development. With a view to accelerate more comprehensive and substantial cultural exchanges and cooperation, the two sides also agreed to sign a MOU Bilateral Cultural Exchanges. The visit of Chongqing Art Troupe echoes the consensus reached by the two governments, and there will be more and more Chinese culture and art troupes coming to Vanuatu in the future, and to light up the cultural exchanges between the two countries.
