Assalamu alaikum. As we mark the end of Ramadan, the most holy month of fasting and prayer for Muslims around the world, I would like to wish all Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid al-Fitr.

大家好。在世界各地穆斯林最神圣的守齋和祈禱之月——萊麥丹結束之際，我謹祝愿所有的穆斯林開齋節吉祥、快樂。

I had the honor of hosting an iftar at the State Department during Ramadan, and last week, while I was in Pakistan, I had the opportunity to join an iftar at a women’s university in Islamabad.

我很榮幸曾在萊麥丹期間在國務院主持過一次開齋晚宴。上個星期當我訪問巴基斯坦時，我有機會在伊斯蘭堡的一所女子大學參加了一次開齋晚宴。

As I have always found over many years of visiting and working with Muslim communities around the world, I left each one of these experiences with a renewed belief that our shared values are the best tools for confronting our many challenges. I am confident that those challenges are no match for the strength of the human spirit, our capacity for compassion, for our commitment to charity, all of which are emphasized and celebrated during this blessed time.

多年以來，我訪問過世界各地的穆斯林社區并與他們一起合作。這些經歷使我一次又一次體會到，我們的共同價值觀是應對眾多挑戰的最好工具。我堅信，人們在祈福之時強調和弘揚的人類精神力量、我們關愛的能力、我們對仁慈的承諾完全能夠戰勝這些挑戰。

As Muslims in the United States and around the world gather for Eid celebrations according to their rich and diverse traditions, I encourage you to continue celebrating the shared values of family, community, and peace – not just in this holy hour, but throughout the year.

當美國和世界各地的穆斯林按照自己豐富多樣的傳統共慶開齋節之時，我鼓勵大家繼續弘揚關于家庭、社區及和平的共同價值觀，不僅在這神圣的時刻，而且經年不輟。

Ramadan reminds us that practicing our diverse faiths – whether yours or mine or someone else’s – is not just about our personal relationship with God. It also must be about our relationships with each other.

萊麥丹讓我們記住，我們信奉各種不同的信仰——不管是你們的，還是我的，或者其他人的——不僅僅關系到我們各自與神明的關系，而且必須關系到我們彼此之間的關系。

In times of change and uncertainty around the world, the celebration of these common values unites us in our humanity, and it reminds us of the value of cooperation and tolerance. Understanding, if we have the courage to summon it, is a powerful key that can unlock so many solutions.
