1. I'd like to call home and leave the number with the baby-sitter.
I'd like to…(I would like to)是較客氣的表示希望或要求的說法。
baby-sitter，臨時保姆。在美國，父母晚間外出時都要找自己比較熟悉的臨時保姆(baby-sitter)來照看孩子，按小時付給工資。通常他們外出前都會將所去處的電話號碼留給baby-sitter，回來后一般都要開車送他們回家。
2. five five five…seventeen twenty
5-5-5-17-20。這是念電話號碼的一種形式。念完前三位號碼，再兩個兩個地念后四位號碼。
3. Five five five…one seven two oh.
5-5-5-1-7-2-0。這是念電話號碼的另一種形式。念完前三位號碼，再一個一個地念后四位號碼。
