New Zealand is a South Pacific country located midway between the Equator and the South Pole. Lying within the South Temperate Zone, New Zealand has an oceanic climate, without extremes of heat or cold. Seasons are the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere, with temperatures generally higher in the north of the country, which experiences sub-tropical warmth in summer. The country is one of the world's largest exporters of wool, and the largest single- country exporter of dairy products (notably butter, cheese and milk powder), lamb and mutton.
