China's top legislature began to read the draft amendment to the law on individual income tax, according to which the individual income tax threshold will be raised to ease the burden of medium and low income earners amid price increase. China's current monthly individual income tax cutoff point is 1,600 yuan.

報道中說，全國人大常委會23日開始審議個人所得稅法修正案草案，擬將工薪所得減除費用標準由現行的每月1600元提高至每月2000元，以緩解中低收入人群由于物價上漲造成的負擔。

這里起征點表示一個門檻，一個界限，因此可以表達為“threshold”或“cutoff point”，那么，個人所得稅“起征點”可以表達為individual income tax cutoff point/threshold。
