1. How has your hometown changed in recent years?
Candidate 1: Frankly speaking, I don't think that my hometown has changed much in recent years. Although as we all know China is experiencing a speedy development in all fields, we also cannot ignore that the gap between cities and countries is becoming larger, which means that the development of countries excessively(過分地,非常地) lags behind the cities. Nowadays with more and more young people going to the urban area for jobs, the lack of labor force is becoming a serious problem. People begin to buy grain like city dwellers(居住者,居民) because there are not enough people to plant crops. Furthermore, owing to the illegal coal mining, the envrionment suffered a lot from the horrible damages all the year round. Of course, with the help of good policy of government, my hometown also has made some progress. For instance, a new cement road has been constructed, which makes it easier for public traffic. About six years ago, a new light industry rose up and so far it has become the major economy form. Magnificent skyscrapers are built and the living standard is improved.
Candidate 2: My hometown has changed a lot. People's living conditions have improved a lot in recent year. Houses are surrounded(環繞) by trees and the air is much fresher than before. Water supply is in better control. It's more convenient for us to go out by bus. There're also taxis waiting in line. You can even make a call to book(預定) a car when it is in need.
2. What is the biggest problem in your hometown?
Candidate 1:Deforestation is the most serious problem in my hometown. Even with the development of the economy, it cannot be denied that people's action more or less has had a bad effect on the environment. It is absolutely unreasonable to just pursue the economical profit at the cost of environment, in the past, there was a dense forest behind my home. Whenever spring came, the mountain full of bloom would be like colorful flags waving in the breeze. I still remember that one day in winter I braved the winds and snow to climb the mountain. When I arrived at the top and overlooked the entire world I found that it was just like a fairyland in the fairy story. But now it seems that I will never enjoy such plessure. Last year I was shocked by the scene when I came back home. The past verdant and beautiful mountains nearly become bare. It's said that no more trees are left as the result of deforestation all the year around. At present it is in an urgent need of relative laws to regulate people's behaviors and protect our mountain from damages.
Candidate 2: The traffic system needs improving. It's heavy when people are on their way to work. We are trapped(困住) in traffic jam during rush hours. Sometimes I have to walk a long way to get home after I get off the bus. Sometimes I felt I were waiting for a bus which would never come.
Candidate 3: When it comes to the biggest problem of our city, there's no doubt that the answer is the problem of traffic.
Because there are so many cars in the city, traffic jam is serious, especially in rush hours when the majority go to work or come back home. At that moment, nothing can be done but wait. However, what's worse is that there are still some people who keep pressing in their trumpets(喇叭), causing another problem—noise pollution.
Certainly, people living by busy streets and supermarkets suffer more from the noise pollution, which merely leads to a worse life.
Thirdly, air pollution brought by cars is another serious threat for us. We know that fuel is still the only energy used for cars. We cannot be blind to the fact that when we're driving, we're polluting the air and destroying the ecosystem(生態系統) at the time. It is strange that you can hardly find people riding in the city, which is beneficial not only for our health but also for the envrionment.
So with so many problems unsloved, things must be done before it becomes much worse. Otherwise we'll suffer a lot from our own ignorant behaviors.
3. What are the major industries in your hometown?
Candidate 1: Light industry and agriculture are the major industries in my hometown. Because my hometown is relatively(相對地) rich in coal, most of people in my hometown had jobs related to coal mining in the past. Some years later, because of the high risk and some horrible accidents, many coal mines had been closed. Now light industry is booming(急速發展的) and has become a major form of economy in my hometown. Some products are even sold overseas.
Candidate 2: Oil, petrochemicals, textiles, building materials and electric power are the pillar industries(支柱產業) in my hometown. Besides, XinJiang is an area rich in mineral deposits(沉積物,藏儲物), where reserves abundant mineral resources. It is reported that the findings are more than 130 kinds of mineral deposits.
My hometown is China's largest growing base of cotton and lavender's planning area. These two crops account for 90% of the nation's total. Furthermore, with the second largest pestureland(牧場), Xinjiang is one of the major sheep farming areas and is the fine-wool production base in China. Moreover, the fruits like Yili apple, Koria pear, seedless(無籽的) white grape and Hami melon all have a well-known reputaion world-wide.
