Do you prefer to further you education or work in practice after your graduation?
Candidate 1: I will choose to further my education without any hesitation(猶豫). It is true that working in practice after graduation enables a person to get involved in(涉及,接觸到) the society earilier to gain social experience. However, further education offers more for me. As a matter of fact, nowadays more and more companies and organization offers more for me. As a matter of fact, nowadays more and more companies and organizations prefer to hire graduate students because of their better self-study capability and unparalleled(無比的) potential(潛能). Further education can help me go further.
Candidate 2: I think I will further my education. Because I think the knowledge we acquire in undergraduate period is far from being enough. And the major in my university is not the first-class. So I want to put myself ahead in a better school and follow a famous professor to do some research. What is more, with higher qualifications(資格條件), it will make me more competitive(競爭的) in job hunting.
2.Why do you prefer to pursue your future education overseas? What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying overseas?
這個問題是前一問題的推進,其實隱含了一問“What do you think of the education in China?”or “Why don't you study in China?”
Candidate 1: On the hand, it is true that the education in China is very good, which lays a firm foundation for the children and contributes to the further development of students. On the other hand, we can't turn a blind eye(熟視無睹) to the disadvantages of it, such as too much pressure from the fierce competition in National College Entrance Examination, the low rate of environment of university and the lack of modern facilities and technology. I decided to study overseas study can help me obtain valuable and prestigious credentials(權威的證書) which are essential for a promising career. I can also gain a different and globalized prospecitive(全球的角度) on my field of study. In addition, it enables me to make life-long friends all over the world so that I can build a broad social network. However, the language barries, the initial cultural shock and homesickness are inevitable(不可避免的) when studying overseas. We need full preparation before starting the overseas study.
Candidate 2: There are many advantages to study overseas. Firstly, when we go to other countries, we will contact some brand-new(全新的,嶄新的) cultures and customs, which can make friends from all over the world. It will be a great wealth throughout our life. Thirdly, studying overseas can equip us with(使具備) diversities of knowledge and skills. They are essential for a promising future. However, there are also several disadvantages. For example, the language may be a problem when we communicate with others. We will feel lonely or even be fed up with study. What's more, when we come back from other countries, we may find we have lost contact with our domestic friends.
Candidate 3: I am totally in favor of studying abroad. Firstly, there is no better opportunity to improve my second-language than to live in the country in which it is spoken. Secondly, there is no doubt that(毫無疑問) students could equip themselves with diversities of konwledge and skills, especially modern technology different from our own country, thus greatly broadening our horizons(拓展視野). Last but not least, students could not only become more independent through living abroad, but also be better at communication through getting along with others, which contributes to improving the social skills of the students.
3.Could you compare the education systems between Asian countries and West countries?
Candidate 1:The Asian countries emphasize a solid foundation of basic knowledge while the West countries lay stress on(強調,重視) the ability to handle practical problems. Asian countries commonly use examinations to judge whether a student is excellent while Western countries concentrate more on the daily performance. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. It is better that the two systems learn from each other to make progress.
Candidate 2:Firstly, when children are young, most parents in Asia countries focus on improving their memory and learning some skills. But parents in the west create a free academic atmosphere in class, which helps to cultivate students' confidence and interests. Furthermore, teachers don't give specific answers to narrow students' thoughts. Therefore, the students are usually more active and creative. In addition, people in our country usually think going to university is the only way to success. They are ashamed to study in technological academy. Meanwhile, our country also hasn't given enough support to that kind of schools. But it is different in the western education system. Students graduating from universities and technological academies are treated equally in empolyment. Some companies even prefer the students who have got specific trainings.
4. Do you think universities should give priority to practical subjects, such as computer and business than those traditional ones like history and geography? Why?
What do you mean by...
Candidate 1: To be honest, I don't quite support the idea that universities should give priority to practical subjects. As far as I am concerned, a good university should provide a well-balanced(均衡的) education for the students to help them grow up, instead of sense of truth of the nature and life through studying the traditional subjects. They are absolutely significant. I take a firm stand that the purpose of study is broadening our horizons, equipping ourselves with knowledge, and developing our interests, instead of simply finding a job with prospect.
Candidate 2: Yes, I think so. University is a place where we should learn some practical skills. And it is the duty of the university to make us fully prepared for the future job. Just learning or giving priority to those traditional subjects, we can only get narrow scope of knowledge. However, when it comes to practical work, we will get confused. If we learn more practical skills, we will be more confident in job hunting. It turns out that, in today's society, companies need skillful and well-rounded persons rather than bookworms.
Candidate 3: It seems reasonable for many students, as well as parents to consider the higher education principally as training for a well-paid(均衡的) job. Practical subjects seem to be much more job-oriented(以工作為導向). But personally, the traditional courses deserve at least equal attention in higher education for they could cultivate students' national pride(民族自豪感) and cultural identity(文化認同感). The equal emphasis on different subjects will lay a solid foundation for each student and help students learn comprehensively(全面地), which benefits them in a long run.
