Day 1, 15th July

I feel lucky to have won a place on this trip.
能夠贏得這次旅行的一個名額，我感到很幸運。
We are in Italy now, and tomorrow we are visiting Pompeii.
我們現(xiàn)在到了意大利，明天將參觀龐貝。
Next week we are flying to China, and going to Loulan, which is known as China's Pompeii in the desert.
下周我們就飛往中國，前去樓蘭--眾所周知的沙漠中的中國龐貝。
Both Pompeii and Loulan became lost civilizations long ago.
龐貝和樓蘭很久以前均已成為失落的文明。
Day 2, 16th July

This morning we attended a lecture about Pompeii.
今天上午我們聽了一個關于龐貝的講座。
The city was founded in the 8th century BC.
該城是公元前8世紀建成的。
In 89 BC, the Romans took over Pompeii. It then became a rich and busy city.
公元前89年，羅馬人占領了龐貝。此后，龐貝成了一個富庶忙碌的城市。
Near the city was a volcano.
離該城不遠處有一座火山。
On 24th August AD 79, the volcano erupted and lava, ash and rocks poured out of it onto the surrounding countryside.
公元79年8月24日，該火山突然爆發(fā)，熔巖、火山灰和巖石從火山日噴射到周邊的鄉(xiāng)村。
It continued to erupt for the next two days. Many people were buried alive, and so was the city. How unfortunate!
接下來的兩天時間里，火山持續(xù)不停地噴發(fā)。很多人都被活埋了，整座城市也被掩埋了。真可悲！
