sound為連系動詞,意為“聽起來”，后接表語。其本身有一定的詞義，但不能獨立作謂語，必須與表語一起構成復合謂語。常見的連系動詞有：be, look, seem, feel, keep, smell, taste, go等。
He seems to be quite happy.
他看起來似乎十分快樂。
look, sound等連系動詞后常接as if / as though 引導的表語從句表推測，從句中有時用虛擬語氣，意為“看起來/聽起來好像……”
He looks as if he were ill.
