基礎篇2: The Best Art Critics

1]I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures. Many people pretend that they understand modern art. They always tell you what a picture is "about".2]Of course, many pictures are not "about"anything. They are just pretty patterns. We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material.
3]I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone else. They notice more.
4]My sister is only seven, but she always tells me whether my pictures are good or not. She came into my room yesterday.
5]"What are you doing?" she asked.
"I'm hanging this picture on the wall." I answered."It's a new one. Do you like it?"
6]She looked at it critically for a moment. "It's all right,"she said,"but isn't it upside-down?"
I looked at it again. She was right! It was!

〈邊讀邊談〉

1. be about,指畫的內容，寫的什么內容等。但下面的一句話，意思是“忙，干”
e.g. What are you about? 你在忙些什么？
I don't understand what this book is all about.

1]我是一個美術學校的學生，我畫了不少畫。很多人假裝懂得現代藝術。他們總是跟你講某一張畫畫的“內容”是什么。
2]當然，有許多畫是什么“內容”都扯不上的。它們只不過是些美麗的圖案而已。我們就象喜歡美麗的窗簾料子一樣喜歡這些畫。
3]我認為年輕的孩子們欣賞繪畫的能力比誰都強。他們注意的東西比較多。
4]我的妹妹年僅七歲，但是她總是告訴我，我畫的畫是好還是不好。她昨天到我的房間里來。
5]“你在干什么？”她問道。
“我正在把這幅畫掛到墻上去呀。”我回答說，“這是一幅新畫，你喜歡嗎？”
6]她挑剔地看了一會。“挺好的，”她說，“不過，畫是不是倒掛了？”

知識點小結:

1、不是任何動詞都可用進行式，我們只說“Do you like it?"而不說“Are you liking it?"同樣，人們常說“I forget his name."卻不說“I am forgetting his name."

2、類似的動詞還有：appear, appreciate, believe, feel, hear, know, like, look, notice, remember, see, resemble, think, understand, etc.
