基礎篇 1: Breakfast or Lunch?

1]It was Sunday. I never get up early on Sundays. I sometimes stay in bed until lunch time. Last Sunday I got up very late. I looked out of the window. It was dark outside. “What a day!” I thought. “It’s raining again.”

2]Just then, the telephone rang. It was aunt Lucy. “I’ve just arrived by train,” she said, “I’m coming to see you.”

3]“But I’m still having breakfast.” I said.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“I’m having breakfast,” I repeated.
“Dear me,” she said, “Do you always get up so late? It’s one o’clock!”

〈邊讀邊談〉

1. v.+until
動詞在肯定句后面有until,這個until就是連詞（一直到，到 ...(為止））。

e.g. I watched her until she disappeared from sight in the distance.

我看著她直到她在遠處消失為止。

2. What a day!可以說天氣真糟，也可以說天氣真好，要看具體情況。

3. Just then,指就在那時＝at that moment

譯文：

1]那是一個星期天。凡是星期天我起的很晚。有時要睡到吃午飯的時候才起床。
上星期天，我的很晚。向窗外看去，外面天氣昏暗。“瞧那鬼天氣！”我想，“又下雨了。”
2]就在這時，電話鈴響。那時我姑媽露茜大來的。“我乘火車剛到，”她說，“我來看望你啦。”
3]“可是我還每吃早餐呢，”我說。
“你在干什么？”她問道。
“我在吃早餐，”我重復說。
“天哪”，她說，“你總是起床這么晚嗎？現在是一點鐘了！”


知識點小結:


1、一般現在式往往和“從不”，“經常”等副詞連用，以表示一種慣常性的動作。這些副詞，我們稱之為頻度副詞。如：always, sometimes , never, frequently, often, rarely, ever.

（每逢星期天你慣常早起嗎？）
2) I sometimes spend my holidays abroad.
（我有時到國外度假。）
3) He rarely answers my letters.
（他難得回我的信。）

（我們經常在這家餐館吃午飯。）
5) The children always play football in the street.
（孩子們總是在街道上踢足球。）
6) His friends seldom visit him.
（他的朋友難得看望他。）
7) She occasionally goes to the theatre.
（她偶而去看戲。）
8) She generally comes to see me on Sundays.
（她一般每逢星期天來看我。）
9) He usually gets up late on Sundays.
（他通常每逢星期天度起床很晚。）
10) I often buy gramophone records
（我時常買留聲機唱片。）
2、現在進行式在表達“正在”之外,還可解悉為“打算”,“計劃”,“要”等。
1) I am leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow.
2) The train is leaving in five minutes.
3) Rick is making a speech at the meeting the day after tomorrow.
4) Is the committee meeting this evening?
5) The famous violinist is playing in tonight’s concert.
