Caught by Gork
陷入高克的捕獲
Captain King often tells his friends stories of his adventures. This is one of them.

Part Ⅰ
第一部分
Peters, our navigator, was lost again.
彼得斯，我們的領航員又迷路了。
We were running out of food, so towards evening, we landed on an unexplored planet.
我們吃光了食物，所以接近夜晚的時候，我們在一個從沒有人去過的行星上登陸了。
Lam, our pilot, brought us down gently in a valley close to a great cliff of smooth, black rock.
我們的飛行員蘭姆將我們穩(wěn)穩(wěn)地降落在一個山谷里，山谷緊靠著一面又黑又滑的大石崖。
In the cliff there were doors - each two storeys high!
那兒矗立著幾扇門—每扇足有兩層樓高！
All twelve of us left the spaceship and approached the doors carefully.
我們一行12個人離開了飛船，小心地走近大門。
One was opened a little. We went through it and entered a huge cave.
其中一扇稍微開了點。我們通過門走進了一個大洞穴。
The furniture inside was similar to the type on the Earth, but huge!
里面的家具種類和地球上的很相像，但是尺寸非常大！
'Let's get out of here,' Peters said. This is the home of a monster.'
“我們離開這兒吧，”彼得斯說。“這是一個怪物的家。”
'It's clearly partly human, so it may be a friendly monster,' I said. 'We'll wait.'
“很明顯它有部分是人類，所以它可能是個友好的怪物，”我說。“我們等等吧。”
The ground began to shake. The door opened and some animals hopped in.
地面開始震動。門開了，一些動物跳了進來。
They looked like kangaroos, giant kangaroos. Following them was a huge monster.
它們看起像袋鼠，巨型袋鼠。隨后是個大怪物。
It looked almost human except that it had a single, huge, red eye.
除了那巨大、紅色的獨眼外，它看起來簡直跟人一樣。
The kangaroos shouted, 'Good night, Gork,' and hopped away.
袋鼠大喊道：“高克，晚安。”，然后跳著離開了。
Then Gork saw us. He gave a roar that turned our blood to ice.
高克發(fā)現(xiàn)了我們。他大吼一聲，令我們毛骨悚然。
'Aliens! Aliens in my cave! How did you get in here?'
“外星人！我的洞穴里有外星人。你們是怎么進來的？”
Part Ⅱ
第二部分
I thought fast, and said quietly,
我靈機一動，悄悄地說道：
'Good evening, Mr Gork. My name is Nobody and these people here are my...'
“晚上好，高克先生。我是沒有人，這兒的這些人是我的…”
Gork roared again, 'I know who you are. You're aliens and we kill all aliens in this valley.
高克又大吼一聲，“我知道你是誰，你們是外星人，我們殺死這個山谷里所有的外星人。
Tomorrow morning, you are going to die! All of you!'
明天，天一亮，你們就得死！所有人。”
Before we could move, Gork pressed a button on the wall beside him.
我們還沒來得及動，高克就按下了他旁邊墻上的一個按鈕。
Steel bars sprang from the ground around us and closed over our heads.
我們四周的地面上頓時彈出了許多鋼條，罩在我們頭上。
We were caught like rats in a trap.
我們像耗子被夾在鼠夾中那樣被抓住。
Gork pressed another button, and a powerful magnet above the cage pulled our guns from our hands.
高克按下另一個按鈕，籠子上方強有力的磁鐵一下子就吸走了我們手中的槍。
'Well, Captain,' Lam said, 'you were wrong about the monster being friendly, weren't you?
蘭姆說：“船長，你說這個怪物是友善的，不對吧？
And why did you say your name was "Nobody"?'
況且你為什么說你叫‘沒有人’啊？”
'I have a plan and "Nobody" is part of it,' I replied. 'You'll see.'
“我有一個計劃，‘沒有人’正是其中的一部分，”我答道。“你就等著瞧吧。”
I turned to Gork and said, 'Mr Gork, it is true that we are aliens,
我轉(zhuǎn)向高克，說道：“高克先生，沒錯，我們是外星人，
but why can't we be friends? Believe me, sir, we come in peace.'
但是我們?yōu)槭裁床荒艹蔀榕笥涯兀肯嘈盼遥壬Ｎ覀兪菓阎埔舛鴣淼摹！?/div>
Gork said, 'You come in peace, but tomorrow you'll be in pieces. But listen, Nobody.
高克說：“雖然你們來想要和平相處，但明天你們將粉身碎骨。但是聽著，‘沒有人’。
I'll do you a "favour". Tomorrow, you'll be the last one to die.'
我會給你一個“恩惠”。明天，你將是最后一個去死的人。”
Peters turned towards me.
彼得斯轉(zhuǎn)向我。
When he spoke, his voice shook. 'I hope your plan's a good one, sir.'
他講話時，聲音在顫抖。“我希望你那是個好主意，先生。”
Trust me,' I said. 'We're all going to live!'
我說：“相信我。我們都會活，彼得斯！”
