第40課 身體語言
In China and abroad,people sometimes communicate without speaking.
在中國和外國,人們有時候不說話來進行交流。
How do they do this?
他們怎么做到的呢?
They use body language.
他們使用身體語言。
But body language is not the same in all cultures.
但是身體語言在所有的文化中不是一樣的。
In China and some other countries,friends shake hands to greet each other.
在中國和其他一些國家,朋友們用握手來互相打招呼。
They may be new friends or old,but they shake hands to show friendship and trust.
他們可以是新朋友或舊朋友,他們握手來表達友誼及信任。
In some European countries,people kiss each other on both cheeks.
在一些歐洲國家,人們互相親吻臉頰。
It's another way to show friendship and love.
這是另一種表達友誼和愛的方式。
In India, when people nod their heads,they mean "no".
在印度,當人們點頭時,他們的意思是“不”。
And when people shake their heads,they mean "yes".
而當他們搖頭時,他們的意思是“是的”。
But in most other countries,these things mean the opposite.
但是在其他大多數國家,這個意思是相反的。
A thumbs-up means "okay" or "well done" in most cultures.
拇指豎起來,在大多數文化中意味著“好的”或“干得好”。
In Australia, however,it is not polite.
但是,在澳大利亞,這是不禮貌的。
In Japan,it means "five",and in Germany,it means "one".
在日本,它的意思是“五”,在德國,意思則是“一”。
In most places,people point to things with their fingers.
在大多數地方,人們用手指指著東西。
But in some places, people point with their lips.
但是在一些地方,人們用嘴唇來指。
They think it's rude to point with a finger.
他們認為用手指指東西是粗魯的。
When Italians wave goodbye,it may look like "Come here!" to Americans.
當意大利人揮手再見時,在美國人看來是“到這兒來!”
But the American goodbye wave looks like "no" in many parts of Europe and South America.
但是美國人的揮手再見同歐洲及南美大多數地方的“不”一樣。
One body language is the same all around the world:a smile.
一個身體語言在全世界是一樣的:一個微笑。
