M: You're going to wear out the computer's keyboard.
男：電腦鍵盤(pán)要被你弄壞啦。
W: Oh. Hi.
女：哦，你好！
M: Do you have any idea what time it is?

W: About 10:00 or 10:30?
女：大概10點(diǎn)，或10點(diǎn)半吧。
M: It's nearly midnight.
男：已經(jīng)快到深夜了。
W: Really? I didn't know it was so late.
女：真的嗎？我沒(méi)注意到已經(jīng)這么晚了。
M: Don't you have an early class to teach tomorrow morning?
男：你明天早上不是還有一節(jié)課要上嗎？
W: Yes, at 7:00. My commuter class—the students who go to work right after their lesson.
女：是的，7點(diǎn)有一節(jié)課。這節(jié)課是要給每天上下班的人上的，學(xué)生上完課就要去工作。
M: Then you ought to go to bed. What are you writing anyway?

W: An article I hope I can sell.

M: Oh, another of your newspaper pieces. What's this one about?

W: Do you remember that trip I took last month?

M: The one up to the Amazon?

W: Well, that's what I'm writing about.

The new highway and the changes it's making in the Amazon valley.

M: It should be interesting.

W: It is. I guess that's why I forgot all about the time.

M: How many articles have you sold now?

W: About a dozen so far.

M: What kind of newspapers buy them?
男：什么樣的報(bào)紙會(huì)刊登這些文章呢？
W: The papers that carry a lot of foreign news.
女：刊登國(guó)外新聞的報(bào)紙。
They usually appear in the big Sunday editions where they need a lot of background stories to help fill up the space between the ads.
這些文章通常出現(xiàn)在星期天版，報(bào)紙需要很多背景故事來(lái)填滿(mǎn)廣告之間的地方。
M: Is there any future in it?
男：你的文章會(huì)在上面發(fā)表嗎？
W: I hope so. There's a chance I may sell this article to a news service.

M: Then your story would be published in several papers, wouldn't it?

W: That's the idea. And it might even be able to do other stories on a regular basis.

M: That would be great.
