My favorite TV show? “The Twilight Zone.” I especially like the episode called “The Printer's Devil.”
我最喜歡的電視劇是什么？是《迷離時(shí)空》。我特別喜歡其中的一集叫做《魔鬼印刷工》。
It's about a newspaper editor who's being driven out of business by a big newspaper syndicate – you know, a group of papers owned by the same people.
講述的是一個(gè)報(bào)刊編輯被大型報(bào)業(yè)財(cái)團(tuán)趕出業(yè)界的故事，你知道的，就是眾多報(bào)刊歸于一人壟斷的財(cái)團(tuán)。
He is about to commit suicide when he is interrupted by an old man who says his name is Smith.
他在要自殺的時(shí)候被一個(gè)名叫史密斯的老男人救了下來(lái)。
The editor is not only offered 5,000 dollars to pay off his newspaper's debts, but this Smith character also offers his services for free. It turns out that the guy operates the printing machine with amazing speed, and soon he is turning out newspapers with shocking headlines.
這個(gè)編輯不僅償還了他5000美金的報(bào)紙債務(wù)，而且這個(gè)史密斯還義務(wù)的為他工作。結(jié)果史密斯以驚人的速度操作著印刷機(jī)，很快報(bào)紙上就出現(xiàn)了令人震驚的頭條。
The small paper is successful again. The editor is amazed at how quickly Smith gets his stories – only minutes after they happen – but soon he is presented with a contract to sign.
這家小報(bào)刊再次獲得成功。這名編輯對(duì)史密斯迅速的報(bào)道速度感到震驚，只在事件發(fā)生幾分鐘之后他就知道。但是很快他收到一份需要簽署的合同。
Mr. Smith, it seems, is really the devil! The editor is frightened by this news, but he is more frightened by the idea of losing his newspaper, so he agrees to sign.
史密斯先生仿佛是一個(gè)魔鬼！這名編輯對(duì)這點(diǎn)感到害怕，但是他更害怕失去他的報(bào)刊，所以他簽字了。
But soon Smith is reporting the news even before it happens – and it's all terrible – one disaster after another.
但是史密斯甚至在新聞未發(fā)生之前就開始寫報(bào)道了，全是非常可怕的新聞，一場(chǎng)災(zāi)難接著又一場(chǎng)的發(fā)生。
Anyway, there is a little more to tell, but I don't want to ruin the story for you. I really like these old episodes of the Twilight Zone, because the stories are fascinating. They are not realistic. But then again, in a way they are, because they deal with human nature.
總之，故事的內(nèi)容還有很多，但是我不想劇透了。我真的喜歡這部《迷離時(shí)空》，因?yàn)槔锩娴墓适潞芪恕Ｋ鼈儾皇钦鎸?shí)的故事，但是在某種程度上講出了人類的本性。
