在四、六級寫作中，考生經常出現主謂不一致問題。所謂主謂一致指的是英語句子的主語和謂語在人稱和數上應保持一致。它可分為三種情況:
(1)語法一致，即主語為單數形式，謂語動詞也采取單數形式;主語為復數形式，謂語動詞亦采用復數形式。
(2)意念一致，即從意義著眼處理主謂一致問題。有時，主語形式為單數，但意義為復數，謂語動詞依據意義而定，也采取復數形式。
(3)比鄰一致，即"就近原則"也就是說謂語動詞的人稱和數往往應與其最近的主語保持一致。
