FaceApp offers us a glimpse into our future
“變老濾鏡”一夜爆紅
What would you look like when you are 80 years old? It seems too far away to imagine, but an app named FaceApp tries to show you.

With the help of an aging filter, the app creates transformations of users' faces using various filters and features. The FaceApp aging challenge went viral last month. Many celebrities like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber shared their wrinkly, grey-haired selfies on social media.
該應用借助了一款變老濾鏡，通過使用各式各樣的濾鏡效果以及面部特征修改功能，讓用戶“變臉”。上個月，一項“變老挑戰(zhàn)”走紅網(wǎng)絡。包括泰勒·斯威夫特、賈斯汀·比伯在內的諸多名人都在社交媒體上分享了一臉皺紋、滿頭白發(fā)的自拍照。
FaceApp helps us stop thinking of things that don't matter and focus on the present. "We view these images as speculative fiction, not realized and therefore unreal," US author Nicci Gerrard told The New York Times. "We think of our younger selves, because in one sense that's who we are. Our younger stories are all still part of us, while our older self doesn't exist yet."

However, not everyone can laugh at their older selves. For some, aging is terrifying and it's hard to accept what the future holds in terms of looks, feelings, and perception. As MetroUK noted, "It's a prophet of doom: FaceApp is making people into a harrowing crisis.

In addition, FaceApp is facing a number of accusations regarding user privacy. When a user alters a photo, it needs to be uploaded to the servers in Russia, where the company is located, then AI filters your image and sends it back to you. By using the app, "you grant FaceApp ... license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, and publish" your image, as stated in its service agreement.

Despite the concerns over privacy, however, FaceApp does light up the internet. It gives us the chance to take a look at our futures and perhaps let us consider how to prepare for it.
