Welcome back to Geek Time, advanced. How are you doing lulu?
Hi, Brad. I'm good. I'm good. I'm ready to talk more about OnlyFans.
Yeah, you mentioned that 安瀾was talking about starting his OnlyFans.
Yeah, we can also explore the possibility and the monetization of his potential OnlyFans page.
I think that would be kind of interesting to see how far he could take that, you know, we should give him a little bit of a push and see what happens.
We can be the puppet master. We were just like reeling in the money, which won't be a lot. I don't think it will be a lot.
Well. You never know, like stranger things happen. So... Hahaha.
All right, back to the actual content, I thought we talk about some of the perhaps get a little bit more into the famous people or like some of the top earners there.
Yeah.
And then we can maybe expand into some other ways they make money or like some of the relevant issues.
So remember the girl I was telling you about the top top earner believe her name is Sophie Rain? Like we discussed last time, I don't know if you've done any research or know how she looks like. She's not like drop that gorgeous, but I think it's just she looks young, she's 20. She is of age, but she obviously looks very young, but she has this very interesting brand. She brands herself as a devout christian.
So she says I'm super religious, I'm also a virgin. So I think it's that combination of the fact that she is doing adult content on OnlyFans. I think it's that that really sent the internet into a frenzy.
And really you have to create this way to attract people to you and using that like when you say you're a virgin, I think a lot of guys hear that and they think this is the person that they want to be with, right?
And so, they kind of get that connection. I don't think when you talk to most guys, like most guys say they wanna be with the most beautiful girl, right?
But I think most guys actually want the girl next door and I think she kind of fits that mode.
Exactly.
She's just the girl next door, she's not very old, she's a virgin, or at least she says she is. So she fits that to a T (“To a T” 是一個(gè)英語(yǔ)習(xí)語(yǔ),意思是“完全符合”“非常精確地匹配”或“完全適合”。它通常用來形容某人或某事非常符合某個(gè)描述或標(biāo)準(zhǔn),沒有任何偏差。), right?
Yeah. And she doesn't, I think, it's also this...she doesn't look distant, you know, if you think about some of the super gorgeous women out there, the super models, they look very distant. They look like the women you dare not even talking to. But Sophie Rain, obviously, she looks very approachable, in all senses of the word.
Yeah.
Yeah. I think that is one thing.
I've heard about a few other ones like Amouranth was another one. She doesn't use her real name. I think she might have like let her real name out, but she went by the name of Amouranth. I think there was another one. I can't remember her name. She was a gamer.
Oh. It's, her name is Belle Delphine?
Yeah, Belle Delphine.
Her tag is the cos player, the gamer girl.
Mhm.
Yeah, she's very quirky. She also made, let's see, she made about 13.5 million, so still a lot.
Wow, that's crazy.
Yeah.
Now, on the other side, it's not only women. There's men as well, very similar to Belle Delphine, there's a guy named Markiplier. And he does video games on YouTube and he's really popular on YouTube, but he made on OnlyFans to make money for charity. And he was so popular...
Of course, they are all doing it for charity.
Yeah.
Well, he actually did do it for charity, so like that's not a problem, but he was so popular that there were so many people coming to watch his content that the site crashed.
OnlyFans crashed because of...
Yeah. OnlyFans crashed because of Markiplier.
But was he actually doing adult stuff, or was that just the gimmick that he was just saying I'm gonna do it OnlyFans debut, and come and watch me.
That wasn't anything too racy. I mean like he was showing himself, I guess. But other than that, like I don't think he did anything crazy, like you know, I think it was mainly just , well, mainly just like it was just like a more charitable type thing.
And so it was that... people weren't coming to watch him. I think like maybe he got naked or something like that, but wasn't anything too risque.
Yeah. It's like a hype, isn't it, to draw people in? It's one of those things. Yeah, I mean, some of these top earners on OnlyFans are not just top earners and there are many different ways of monetizing.
So the gamer girl that we were talking about Belle Delphine, you know that she basically got really famous by selling the "jars of her gamer girl bath water".
That's great.
I mean, it's bad enough that people sell like knickers and stockings, but this is just ridiculous, the gamer girl bath water.
Yeah, and also how would people authenticate it? It's like how do you know that's the actual bath water.
That's actually a very interesting idea, because like you can't really authenticate that, it could be anyone in the water. It could just be water with soap in it, right?
Exactly. Exactly. I mean, so that's why I think there's catering to fantasies, and fantasies are worth a lot of money. And people are willing to pay a lot of money for fantasies, but dialing back a little bit, apart from selling the content, I think they also sell the idea of like interactions.
Right.
For example, a certain amount of money you get to talk to me, I get to... we will interact.
They have, like you can oftentimes when the people are alive, you can chat with them, but you can also chat with them outside of those live streams, like you can have like private sessions or private... you have private conversations with them, like through basically through a chat program, right, on the platform.
And what's very interesting, is some of them you're not even chatting with them directly. They either use like a computer program to chat, or they hire other people to go out and chat with their customers.
Well. I mean, if they're really popular, if you're hugely popular, of course you don't have the time and your time is better spent elsewhere. Right?
So it makes sense that doing that, they're hiring people to impersonate themselves, and chat with subscribers, or they just use chat bots. But I'm pretty sure that is against the rules, right? That's fraud basically.
Right. It is considered fraud because the person is thinking that they're paying to chat with this person directly.Right? And so using a chat bot is technically completely legal, but sometimes having another person correspond with them instead of you, that's a kind of like a gray area where it's not necessarily illegal, but it's against the terms and service.
So like you have to be careful, but it's kind of like stringing people along. They're thinking like, you know, I'm building this relationship with this content creator, and they're chatting with me, and we're having a good conversation.
Having a relationship.
Yeah.
I mean impersonation definitely is a gray area. I think it's not even a gray area. It feels like a outright fraud, because you're promising something and you're not delivering it. Right?
Exactly.
That's the definition of fraud. So having said all of that about OnlyFans, the fact that it's so popular and it's increasingly more popular, are there any restrictions in terms of laws to restrict the expansion of this website?
That's very interesting.
In the US, there's Federal laws which regulate the entire country. But there are also state laws and a lot of states are creating different types of laws.
Recently like for example, in China, when you register for your internet, you have to use like WeChat or something like that. You have to use your ID, you have to use a real ID to register.
They want to do that for like porn websites and a lot of people are against that. They don't want to use their real name when they register for a porn website, they don't want that on a registry somewhere.
And so, as a way to kind of fight against that, some like OnlyFans and some other companies Pornhub they’re actually not allowing people from those states to register with their site.
So you can't even go to that site, but also like if a state makes something illegal, then like credit card processing companies aren't allowed to interact with that company online or for anything.
Wow.
So the laws that they make can actually limit how they make money. That's kind of why OnlyFans was planning on stopping sexually explicit content, but they just decided...
Or they can just move to another payment method, like crypto.
Exactly, that's what they were doing. That's what they decided to do, because the whole point of the website is adult content, right? And so, yeah, they wanted to make sure that they could keep their platform going the way it was.
It sounds like any sort of like gray area stuff, any barely legal stuff, they are paid through crypto nowadays.
Yeah, exactly.
Decentralized, not traceable, which we talked about in other episodes.
Okay. So before we finish today's topic about OnlyFans, you have heard of the fact that although this isn't primarily adult content websites, but there are people putting completely non adult content, completely generic content on the sites, right?
Yeah, I've seen some things like some chefs or fitness people putting content on there, not on OnlyFans but on Pornhub. They like, math professor was putting his content.
Math teacher...
Yeah. Like there are university professors who are putting lectures on OnlyFans and letting people like pay a small amount of money to watch lectures there. You can do almost anything on OnlyFans. It's for your fans, right?
Yeah. I mean, it's just fantastic and it was the Pornhub, math teacher thing. There were even lots of people leaving comments and saying 'you know what? what I didn't expect it, but I've actually learned something that I've actually learned something, watching your video on Pornhub’, which is it's funny.
All right. So let's try to talk 安瀾 into starting his OnlyFans page.
I think we should, that would be very interesting. Everybody, go and sign up for 安瀾's OnlyFans.
Where he talks about really non-adult content. All right. Jokes aside. Let's wrap up here if you have anything to share or if you want us to talk about any other topics, weird topics or geeky topics, leave us a comment in the comment section. Thank you, Brad, for coming to the show.
All right, no problem. See in the next episode.
We'll see you next time. Bye.
Bye. Everybody.
