'It's their wedding day,' said the man. 'In the war, two young lovers died on the bridge.
“他們今天舉行婚禮。”那個(gè)男子說(shuō)，“戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)時(shí)期，一對(duì)年輕情侶死在了這座橋上。
They were called Nina and Dragan. We don't want to forget them.
他們名叫尼娜和德拉甘。我們不愿忘記他們。
Now, after a wedding, people come here and drop two flowers into the river - one for Nina, one for Dragan.
如今，婚禮過(guò)后，人們會(huì)來(lái)這里往河里丟兩枝花——一枝給尼娜，一枝給德拉甘。
Watch them now - they are saying their names.'

Barbara was afraid to look at Alma's face. Alma sat so still, so still.
芭芭拉不敢看阿爾瑪?shù)哪樕０柆斀┳?，一?dòng)不動(dòng)。
On the bridge, the man and woman watched the flowers in the water for a moment.
在橋上，男女二人望了一會(huì)兒水里的花。
The man put his arm around his young wife. Then they walked slowly back to the car and drove away.
男子摟住年輕的妻子。隨后他們慢慢地回到了車(chē)?yán)铮_(kāi)著車(chē)走了。
'Who did it first? I don't know,' said the man at the next table. 'But now everybody comes here on their wedding day.
“誰(shuí)最先這么做的？我不知道。”鄰桌的男子說(shuō)，“不過(guò)如今人們?cè)诨槎Y當(dāng)天都會(huì)到這里來(lái)。
We all remember the war, of course we do, but we must remember love too. Love is more important than war.'
我們不會(huì)忘記戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，那是當(dāng)然的，但我們也不會(huì)忘記愛(ài)情。愛(ài)情比戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)更重要?！?/div>
'Thank you,' said Barbara. 'Thank you very much for telling us that story.'
“謝謝你?！卑虐爬f(shuō)，“非常感謝你告訴我們這個(gè)故事。”
She looked at Alma's white face. 'Come,' she said quietly. 'Let's walk onto the bridge together.'
她看著阿爾瑪蒼白的面頰。“來(lái)，”她輕輕地說(shuō)，“我們一起往橋上走走?！?/div>
She took Alma's arm and they walked onto the bridge.
她挽起阿爾瑪?shù)母觳?，兩個(gè)人走上了橋。
At the middle of the bridge Barbara stopped, and looked out over the river.
走到橋中央的時(shí)候，芭芭拉停住了腳步，向河面望去。
'Look,' she said to Alma. 'The flowers are still there. Do you see?
“看啊，”她對(duì)阿爾瑪說(shuō)，“花兒還在那兒呢。你看到了嗎？
Flowers for Nina and Dragan. That's so beautiful.'
獻(xiàn)給尼 娜和德拉甘的花。真美。”
The two white flowers were bright in the sun. 'Love is more important than war,' Alma whispered.
兩朵白花在陽(yáng)光下亮閃閃的?！皭?ài)情比戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)更重要?！卑柆斴p聲說(shuō)。
There were tears on her face, and she watched the flowers for a long time. Then she looked at Barbara, and slowly smiled.
她臉上掛著淚水，盯著那兩 朵花看了很長(zhǎng)時(shí)間。然后她看著芭芭拉，漸漸地露出了笑容。
'Barbara, I know the answer to my question,' she said. 'I can live here again. This is my home.'
“芭芭拉，我的那個(gè)問(wèn)題有答案了?！彼f(shuō)，“我可以重新住在這里。這里是我的家?！?/div>
They walked off the bridge. The two flowers, together in the water, moved slowly away on the river.
她們走下了橋。水中相伴的那兩朵花，在河面上緩緩地漂遠(yuǎn)了。
