The movie is adapted from an online novel about the story between a female student named Chen Nian studying for the Chinese Gaokao, the national university-entrance exams, and a street-smart man who protects her under his wing.

A classmate of Chen Nian committed suicide, and later Chen Nian has become the target of relentless bullying.

Family of Origin therapy and techniques can help you create better relationships.

And if one's family of origin was dysfunctional; faced issues such as abuse, poor health, or poverty; did not provide children with real-world skills; or did not demonstrate love, that person may experience difficulties in these areas later in life, especially if they start a family of their own.

They might also, in many cases, have developed coping strategies or related strengths when they meet difficulties.

First of all, draw your own family genogram (/'dʒenə,ɡræm/家族譜) and think about relationships between your family members and themes which may come up in your family.

Secondly, think about how they affect you. How do different family members operate in relationships? What roles did you and other family members play in your family? What are the good qualities you have taken away from your family experience and what are the negative qualities you may have taken away?

Begin to understand those beliefs and behaviors that you have adopted and start to make changes by challenging the messages that have negative effects on you.
