Philippe is a quadriplegic （[ˌkwɑːdrɪˈpliːdʒɪk] 四肢癱瘓的）millionaire who is interviewing candidates for the position of his carer. Driss cuts the line of candidates and brings a document from the Social Security and asks Phillipe to sign it to prove that he is seeking a job position so he can receive his unemployment benefit.

Philippe challenges Driss, offering him a trial period of one month to gain experience helping him. Then Driss can decide whether he would like to stay with him or not. Driss accepts the challenge and moves to the mansion, changing the boring life of Phillipe.

"Be careful. You know guys from the suburbs have no mercy."

Philippe just said, "That's what I want. No mercy."

"He didn't feel sorry for me – he was irreverent(無禮的), cheeky(厚臉皮的) and had an outrageous sense of humor. I suddenly found I was enjoying life again, feeling like I didn't know what was coming next."

"Pity is the last thing you need. Pity is hopeless. Pity is what someone gives you because he is afraid to take care of you. I didn't need that. But compassion I don't need also. It comes from Latin and means 'suffering with'. I don't want you to be suffering with me. I need consolation, which in Latin means keeping me as a whole person, respecting me as I am."
