A food tech company in the US has developed a natural coating that may double or triple the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. Apeel Sciences says their natural spray acts like an extra peel and slows down water loss and oxidation. The spray has no smell, taste, or colour and is safe to consume. Several US grocery store chains are already testing the product on avocados. Approximately 40% of the food grown around the world goes to waste.
