Australian Banknote Features Typo
Approximately 46 million $50 Australian banknotes have been printed with an amusing typo. The word “responsibility” is missing its third “i”. The misspelled word was spotted in the microtext of Edith Cowan’s speech. Cowan was Australia’s first female member of parliament. The new banknote, which has special security and accessibility features, was rolled out last October. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has acknowledged the typo and says it will be corrected in the next print run.
