Mark: Jingjing, what's the latest about your friend Meili and that guy she was dating?
馬克: 京晶，你的朋友美麗和她那個約會對象最近怎么樣了?
Jingjing: Well, they haven't seen much of each other these days. Gaofeng got a job, and it's keeping him pretty busy.
京晶: 嗯，這些天他們很少見面。高峰剛找了份新工作，挺忙的。
Mark: I bet Meili expected they'd get right back together once he found work.
馬克: 我敢說，美麗肯定以為他一找到工作他們就能和好如初了呢。
Jingjing: He says he's been swamped since he started. But Meili thinks he might be holding it against her that her parents kept them apart.
京晶: 他說他的新工作一上來就忙得不可開交。但美麗覺得，他可能還在因為她父母把他們分開的事而責怪她。
Mark: It might be both. Anyway, she should give him some time to get adjusted to the new position.
馬克: 可能兩個原因都有。不管怎樣，她應該給他一些時間來適應新的職位。
Jingjing: Yeah, some bosses really light a fire under their new employees.
京晶: 是啊，有些老板會對新員工施加很大壓力。
Mark: He'll want to prove himself there, to be sure. How about Meili, then? How's she holding up?

Jingjing: Like I said, she's worried about the distance between her and Gaofeng. She's not sure if Gaofeng is Mr Right.

Mark: If she's really not sure, then he's probably not the one. But it's normal to go through a period of doubts now and then.

Jingjing: You think people are sure, when they've found their soul mate?

Mark: Yeah. I think so.

Jingjing: What are some ways to be sure?

Mark: Well, the two people don't get tired of each other, or run out of things to talk about. Also, they don't feel like they have to put on a show for the other person.

Jingjing: It seems like Gaofeng and Meili have passed that test.

Mark: Yeah, it sure sounds like it, based on what you told me a few weeks ago.

Jingjing: Do you have any other ways of knowing?

Mark: Let me grab some hot chocolate. Then I'll be glad to talk about it when I come back.

Jingjing: So, what are your thoughts about how someone can know if they've met their soul mate?

Mark: I think it's mostly about how comfortable two people feel with each other. You know, if someone goes home to a happy place, they are glad also to go out and make money.
馬克: 我認為最重要的是看兩個人在一起是不是感覺舒服。你知道，如果一個人回到家里讓他感到快樂和溫暖，他也會很樂意出去賺錢。
Jingjing: Right. We talked about that already. What about when people first meet and go on a few dates?

Mark: There's a bit of a biological explanation. It has to do with a person's natural smell.

Jingjing: That sounds kinda weird. Are you talking about pheromones?

Mark: That word gets thrown around a lot. But I saw a cool experiment that made me believe it.

Mark: Those would be great odds. But he went on a date with each woman, then rated each date 1 to 6.

Jingjing: Let me guess, the best-smelling old T-shirt and the best date was the same woman.

Mark: Bingo. I think it proves that smell is a factor.

Jingjing: Hmm. In a world concerned with beauty and money, it's one more thing to consider.

Mark: Yep, and it might make a world of difference.

Jingjing: Ok. I'll ask Meili if she's taken a whiff of Gaofeng.
