Mark: Good afternoon, Jingjing. Are you ready for the weather to turn chilly?
馬克：下午好，京晶，天氣要變涼了，你準(zhǔn)備好了嗎？
Jingjing: Not really. I like the temperatures we have these days. It seems we just got past the days when it was too hot to do much outdoors.
京晶：并沒有。我喜歡這些天的溫度。看上去我們已經(jīng)度過了熱得沒法做戶外運動的日子。
Mark: Yeah, and next thing you know it'll be too cold outside.
馬克：是啊，很快，就會太冷也沒法出去了。
Jingjing: Right. Hey, have a moon cake. It'll help you stay warm for the coming autumn.
京晶：是啊。來，吃塊月餅，這熱量能幫你保暖迎接秋天的到來。
Mark: Thanks. It's a nut one, right? I recognize the 五 character.
馬克：謝謝了。是伍仁餡兒的嗎？我認出了“五”這個漢字。
Jingjing: Yep, that's it. The other is 仁, which usually means kindness, but when it's about food it refers to nuts.
京晶：嗯呢，是的！另外一個字是“仁”，通常這個字的含義是仁慈，但指代食物時，意為堅果類。
Mark: That's really different. In English, if someone says, “you're nuts”, they are saying you're crazy.
馬克：這真是很大的不同啊。在英語中，如果有人說“you're nuts”意思是你瘋了，失去理智了。
Jingjing: Okay, but depending on the context, someone knows that you're either talking about nuts as a kind of food or kindness and benevolence as a human quality.
京晶：但是要取決于上下文，有人知道你要么指的是做為食物的堅果，要么是指做為人類所具有的善良和仁慈的品質(zhì)。
Mark: Got it. Anyway, thanks for the moon cake. That's my favorite flavor.
馬克：明白了。對了，謝謝你的月餅，這是我最喜歡的口味。
Jingjing: I usually like to eat one that has an egg inside.
京晶：我通常喜歡吃一個里面有蛋黃的那種。
Mark: Oh, that's the only one I don't like.
馬克：啊，那是我唯一不喜歡的一種。
Jingjing: I think you told me that last year. That's why I saved the one with nuts in it for you. Hey, did you eat it already?
京晶：我記得你去年跟我說過。這就是我為什么我給你留了一個里面伍仁餡的。你吃了嗎？
Mark: Yup. I wolfed it down when you were talking about benevolence.
馬克：吃啦。你談到仁慈的時候我就大口吞了個干凈。
Jingjing: 你太麻木不仁. That means you're too insensitive. I'm just kidding.
京晶：“你太麻木不仁了”意思是你太遲鈍太麻木了。開玩笑哈。
Mark: I guess I should have just nibbled it politely. But it was so good, I couldn't stop myself from finishing the whole thing in a few bites.
馬克：我想我本應(yīng)該很有禮貌地輕輕咬著吃，但它真的太美味了，我簡直情不自禁幾口就結(jié)束戰(zhàn)斗了。
Jingjing: Ha ha. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
京晶：哈哈。很開心你喜歡吃。

Jingjing: Mark, do you celebrate Mid-Autumn festival in the west?
京晶：馬克，你們西方慶祝中秋節(jié)嗎？
Mark: No. It's mainly an Asian holiday. We have something like a harvest festival, but not a holiday celebrated everywhere on the same day.
馬克：不呢。這主要是個亞洲的節(jié)日。我們有類似秋收節(jié)，但也不是一個在各地同一天慶祝的節(jié)日。
Jingjing: In China, and throughout Asia, we celebrate Mid-Autumn festival on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month.
京晶：在中國，以至整個亞洲，我們都在農(nóng)歷八月十五這天慶祝中秋。
Mark: That's a full moon, right?
馬克：那天是滿月，對吧？
Jingjing: Yes. Did you see the moon last Monday?
京晶：是的，你看到周一的月亮了嗎？
Mark: Yeah. We had clear weather, and got to enjoy the view. The moon shines into my window most nights. Monday night, my bedroom was brightly lit.
馬克：看見了啊。那天天氣清朗，能看到很好的景色。好幾天夜里月光都照進了窗戶。周一那晚，我的臥室都被照亮了。
Jingjing: Besides looking at the moon, do you know what we do to celebrate Mid-Autumn Day?
京晶：除了賞月，你知道中秋節(jié)還要如何慶祝一下嗎？
Mark: Eat moon cakes, obviously. Besides that, people get together to have a big meal. Isn't that so?
馬克：吃月餅，是當(dāng)然的。除此以外，家人團聚吃頓大餐，對嗎？
Jingjing: That's right. Since it's just one day off, most people stay near their own home and workplace. So, a lot of us have meals with friends in the city where we live.
京晶：對的。既然只有一天假，大多數(shù)人也就呆在家里或者單位附近了。所以，大多數(shù)人也就在自己居住地的城里和朋友們一起吃飯了。
Mark: Did you have a get together with your friends.
馬克：你和朋友們聚了嗎？
Jingjing: I sure did. Several classmates from my university had a mini-reunion. We had hot pot on a long table with three different soups boiling.
京晶：當(dāng)然了。我和好幾個大學(xué)同學(xué)來了個小團圓。我們吃了火鍋，一個大長桌上煮了三種不同口味的湯鍋。
Mark: That sounds fabulous. Is hot pot a traditional food for the Mid-Autumn festival?
馬克：聽上去好棒啊。火鍋也是中秋節(jié)的傳統(tǒng)食物嗎？
Jingjing: Nah, it's just a nice thing to have with a group, and good food for when the weather is on the verge of turning cold.
京晶：不是的。只是和一群人相聚很適合吃的好東西，也是很好的在天氣快要變涼的時候吃的食物。
Mark: There's no such thing as a bad reason to have a good meal with friends.
馬克：和朋友們一起聚個好餐任何理由都是好理由。
Jingjing: Right. It was good to see them all. Also, ate so much that I've only had vegetables and snacks since then.
京晶：是的。見到他們特別好。我得好撐，吃完都現(xiàn)在我都只吃了點蔬菜和零食呢。
